Adam McKay’s ‘Don’t Look Up’ Adds Mark Rylance and Michael Chiklis

The cast of the Netflix movie A-list continues to grow.

The absolutely crazy cast list of Adam McKayupcoming disaster comedy Don’t look up it was simply raised by two acclaimed actors. Oscar winner Mark Rylance and Emmy winner Michael Chiklis They have joined the upcoming movie in unspecified roles, though presumably both of them are playing cool bald men.

As reported by Deadline, Rylance and Chiklis are the latest additions to an already A-list ensemble, which includes Leonardo Dicaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl streep, Cate blanchett, Timothée Chalamet, Jonah hill, Ariana Big, Matthew Perry, Chris Evans, Tyler Perry, Melanie Lynskey, Steal MorganY Ron Perlman. The film follows two low-level astronomers as they embark on a media tour to try to convince audiences that a world-ending comet is on the way. Judging from McKay’s previous work on The big bet Y Vice, we can wait Don’t look up to be a comical but sobering examination of a serious crisis, which in this case is the imminent threat of climate change. It’s probably no accident that the movie’s plot is virtually identical to the Chicken Little story, because the biggest opposition currently facing initiatives to combat climate change is denial that the problem exists.

McKay is not a talented filmmaker by any means, but I personally find that his dramatic work cares more about his own intelligence than it does about providing meaningful insight – the gag of having famous and attractive women explaining complicated concepts of the market in The big bet I felt dated in 2015, and God help me if this latest movie of hers is naturally narrated by a supporting character speaking directly to the camera. But after assembling such an impressive cast to tackle what is possibly the most significant crisis humanity has ever faced, hopefully Don’t look up has something more substantive to offer beyond simply gathering a group of famous people to point out something terrible and repeatedly say, “Isn’t this bullshit?” For more Netflix news, see Kevin smith revealing the epic score to your next Masters of the Universe animated series.
