‘Clone High’ reboot receives order for two seasons of HBO Max

The cult animated comedy Phil Lord / Christopher Miller is making a comeback in a big way.

Abe Lincoln at Clone High

Clone high It was one of the animated gems of the MTV era that sadly never caught the eye of Beavis and Buttheador Would give. The creation of Phil Lord Y Christopher miller, which would achieve great success with films like 21 Jump Street Y The Lego Movie, as much as Scrubs creator Bill lawrence, was established in a high school where all the students were clones of famous figures like Abraham Lincoln and Joan of Arc. This allowed the show to play on certain high school archetypes and teen drama tropes, while also lampooning historical figures like John F. Kennedy as the jock and Cleopatra as the queen bee.

Last July, we reported that the reboot would be coming to MTV, but now it looks like HBO Max has picked up the series, and they’re very excited to give it a two-season order. Obviously, HBO Max is trying to expand their original content quickly so they can compete in the streaming wars, but it’s still nice to know that they were high enough in Clone highthey decided to give it two full seasons. Lord and Miller will return as executive producers and writers and Lawrence will also return as executive producer. Erica Rivinoja, who wrote in the original Clone high, and whose credits also include South Park Y Borat Post Movie, will serve as showrunner.

The big questions now are whether they will reunite the original voice cast and how they will adapt the show to 2021. The original show had Will forte as the voice of Abraham Lincoln, as well as Lord and Miller also providing various voices. The show too found some controversy for his description of GandhiAlthough Lord and Miller had planned to address that controversy in the aborted second season without mentioning his absence or that he was actually a Gary Coleman clone. Of course, the benefit of rebooting is that you are no longer tied to any of the original characters. They are just clones of famous people in a high school, and you can run it from there. I’m excited to see what they do with this new iteration.
