DC finally reveals Supergirl’s final fate

Future State hasn’t been kind to some of DC’s greatest heroes, but Supergirl is the exception, leaving behind a legacy of growth and change.

Spoilers for Future State: Kara Zor-El Superwoman # 2 ahead!

Future state has revealed a number of dark destinies for the heroes of the DC Universe, but Supergirl it is an outlier whose fate is one of hope and healing. In Future State: Kara Zor-El: Superwoman # 2, readers get a glimpse of not only Supergirl’s future, but her legacy as well. The issue, written by Marguerite Bennet with art by Marguerite Sauvage, is now available in stores and on all digital comic platforms.

DC Future state It shows the future of the DC Universe in various eras, and in the previous issue, readers learn that at some point, Supergirl (now called Superwoman) left Earth in a fit of rage with Jon Kent over Superman’s mantle. He sought refuge on the Moon, establishing his own Fortress of Solitude; seeks to overcome the anger and resentment that he has felt throughout his life. Their tranquility is interrupted when an alien visitor named Lynari appears at the Fortress; shortly after more alien species appear, ready to fight.

Supergirl prepares to fight the invaders and can feel anger and rage building up inside her. Just as she walks in to deliver the knockout blow, Lynari stops her, telling her that the example Supergirl has set her over the past few weeks has inspired her to break the cycle of violence that has been a hallmark of her life; Lynari then takes the powers away from the invaders, revealing that one of them is her Aunt Kimara. Kimara, moved by the example of Lynari and Supergirl, ceases her attack. Later, readers learn that something surprising came out of that fight: People from all over the galaxy now come to the Fortress of Solitude to learn, grow, and change. Over thousands of years, a community forms, a peaceful one that has been inspired by Supergirl.

Over the past decade, it has become common to portray Supergirl as a tougher version of her cousin; It bothers her that he was the center of attention first, even though she is older. This led to serious anger issues, which led directly to the Red Lantern Corps, but in Future state, has largely overcome these problems and has found peace. What’s even more amazing is that you have not only been cured, but you are now in a place where you can inspire others as well. It’s a nice counterpoint to the otherwise bleak world Future state.

Supergirl She may be doomed to continually exist in the shadow of her cousin, but in the distant future, she has found her own path, one that has the potential to impact as many people as Superman.
