That latest project has just received a kind of update from the producers themselves. During an interview at the Lights Camera Bar stool podcast, the brothers were asked about Hercules and if they had any particular ideas or new information to share. While they failed to reveal any major disclosures, Joe and Anthony confirmed that the project was still underway and that they are working to develop it in even greater ways. “Still in development” Joe confirmed, before delving into his recent creative process.

“The script is about to appear in a week. We have devoted a lot of time and care to it. It’s a movie that was very important to me and my kids, something they saw when they were young, so we have a strong emotional connection to it. Our intention is to look at everything we do and think how we can build it, what can you do with this that expands it, gives you different opportunities to tell stories in it. So, we are going through the same exercise with Hercules, can we build it, can we build a world out of this and that extends further and is compelling, and I think that’s what the public is craving, right? They want to see something really cool that they want to lose themselves in for a decade, so our mission is to bring that experience to them. It is still early!”

While the movie remains in the early stages, the Russos update seems to point toward the franchise’s potential beyond just a single movie. The brothers have been incredibly successful in creating larger stories for Disney through their work on the MCU, so it would make sense for them to look for ways to build. Hercules in new and exciting ways. The world of Greek myth certainly has enough content to take up a lot of screen time, should Disney decide to go down that path.

Now that Disney is starting to remake movies with more niche appeal like Hercules Y The Hunchback of Notre Dame – both have loyal fandoms but never reached the massive success levels of The Lion King or Beauty and the Beast – Fans are wondering which animated favorite could be next. A live action Atlantis It has been a popular choice with some, although there are many other beloved movies to choose from in the Disney catalog. Hopefully the live action Hercules The movie will do the original justice.
