Snyder laid the groundwork for a dark on-screen exploration of the history of Batman and The Joker in Batman v Superman. He created a scene in the movie that showed Robin’s very battered and spray painted armor, “Ha ha joke on you Batman” to imply that Joker had killed Batman’s pupil.
After a family tragedy forced Snyder away from the League of Justice film, was left to Joss Whedon. Snyder assumed that his plans to bring the Joker’s conflict to the screen were over. However, Snyder revived his ambitions for a revamped and extended version of the project, dubbed the Snyder-Cut, in collaboration with HBO Max. The opportunity allowed Snyder to request additional photographs to include Jared Leto’s Joker in the now four-hour film, which will open March 18 in four one-hour installments.
Snyder stated, “The Joker is really the only thing I thought about in hindsight, but I will say that it was always my intention to bring the Joker into that world.” The director further explained: “The scene [with Robin’s armor] explains why Bruce had the Joker card attached to his gun that you see in Batman v Superman.“Snyder originally intended to show” how [The Joker] It hurt him in a way that no one ever really has. “He added:” Other than losing his parents, it was probably the most significant personal injury in his life. “
