Zelda BOTW’s Secret Debug Room Discovered By Modder

A modder has recreated the debug room from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, shown on a tour of Youtube videos, which they shared on Reddit.

A modder has recreated the debug room in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Despite launching nearly four years ago for both Wii U and Nintendo Switch, Ta Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild continues to offer fans a ton of fun. To this day, the stories come from fans who have had fun exploring game mechanics and enemies to create their own immersive stories. One fan even created his own fireworks by exploding some dragon scales after sending them into the air using the power of Revali Gale.

With Nintendo’s beloved franchise approaching its 35th anniversary in a matter of days, there has been widespread speculation surrounding a possible 3D All-Stars bundle along the same lines as Super Mario 3D All-Stars. Because both The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker Y The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess have already been remade for Wii U, those games are expected to be part of the package if a Zelda 3D All-Stars were to come true.

In the meantime, though, fans are still having fun with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and a player, what’s up Waikuteru, has recreated the debug room from that game. Waikuteru has shared a video on YouTube that gives an overview of the debug room, as well as details on how they were able to recreate it. The room is filled with various weapons, enemies, food, items, insects, and more. There’s even a proper boss battle against a bug. In the second half of the video, Waikuteru explains that they were able to recreate this debugging room by looking at the game code and finding what items were used in MarioClubTestDungeon. For context, Mario Club is the name of Nintendo’s debugging team.

Waikuteru has been modifying The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for a while now. His modifications include restoring an unused shrine and upgrading Link’s house. Although all its modification requires a considerable amount of work, this debug room seems time-consuming, to say the least. They had to go through the game code and upload the 355 items that were used in the debug room. It sounds pretty monotonous.

Organizing and ordering all the items also seems like it took quite a while. Everything is perfectly displayed, and one can only imagine how long it must have taken Waikuteru to fix it. Due to his dedicated work on modding The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, it’s exciting to think about what they will modify next in the game.
