It starts to look more and more WandaVision you are setting the MCU version of House of M. The story centering on the Scarlet Witch has been one of the biggest events within the Marvel comic universe, and one that has apparently been on actress Elizabeth Olsen’s radar even in the early days of Avengers: Age of Ultron. With only a handful of episodes remaining in this season of WandaVisionHow can the popular Disney + show achieve a House of M-like crescendo?
Written by Brian Michael Bendis in 2005, the House of M The crossover event took place some time after a runaway Scarlet Witch accidentally killed Vision, Hawkeye, and Scott Lang, leaving many in the superhero community, including the Avengers and X-Men, wondering if it might be better to kill her as a precaution. Hidden by her father Magneto and her brother Quicksilver, Wanda rewrites the universe with her incredible powers. In his new world, all heroes (except Wolverine) find themselves with no memory of reality and lead relatively happy lives. Wolverine eventually helps break the spell by reconnecting with the X-Men and the Avengers, and they team up to hunt down Scarlet Witch who, in this universe, is a member of the all-powerful ruling family, led by Magento. Attacked and stripped of her newly created happiness, Wanda concludes House of M with an infamous panel in which he utters the phrase, “No more mutants, “weakening much of the world’s mutant population before re-establishing the universe in Marvel’s main timeline.

It has long been speculated that WandaVisionThe version of events will operate in reverse, with Scarlet Witch bringing mutants to the MCU instead of erasing them. Until the recent deal between Disney and 20th Century Fox, all X-Men and mutant characters were out of the reach of Kevin Feige and his team of Marvel Studios creators. Now that mutants sit comfortably under Disney’s corporate umbrella, the question of how mutants will enter the story has been a big question, and there are several possibilities for how their introduction could play out.
Wanda can bring mutants to the multiverse
WandaVision Episode 5 ended with Evan Peters’ Quicksilver appearing in Westview, seemingly imported from Fox’s X-Men universe. There are still many questions regarding this “recast” of Pietro, who had previously been played in the MCU by Aaron Taylor-Johnson. . Regardless of how Peters ‘Quicksilver managed to get to Westview, he marks Marvel Studios’ first on-screen nod to Fox’s X-Men franchise and, by extension, the mutant race. Peters’ entry into the fray has driven fans into something of a frenzy, with many eager for other favorite Fox mutants to enter the scene (the excitement was made even more palpable by the taunts that a cameo rivals that of Luke Skywalker The mandalorian debut is still on the way).
It is possible that Wanda somehow, consciously or unconsciously, is bringing mutants from other dimensions. Perhaps Westview is really operating as a point of convergence between worlds, made even more accessible by the extraordinary power of Wanda. This theory is made even more probable considering the hexagonal barrier that surrounds the city. At Guardians of the Galaxy In series, the hexagons form a network of “jump points”, portals that allow fast and light-speed travel. WandaVision you may be using this visual motif to indicate equally fast travel between neighboring universes.
CMBR can produce mutants
In WandaVision Episode 4, Dr. Darcy Lewis notes a rare form of radiation emitted by the bubble surrounding Westview: “cosmic microwave background radiation“or”CMBR. “The term refers to a real-world phenomenon, low-level electromagnetic radiation supposedly left over from the Big Bang. Furthermore, the Big Bang initiated the creation of the Infinity Stones, as illustrated by Wong in Avengers: Infinity War. Is it possible that a strong enough wave of this mysterious force could cause the activation of an inactive X-Gene and the arrival of mutants in the MCU? It goes without saying that, in the comics, mutants were originally introduced as individuals whose parents had previously been exposed to radiation.
Monica suggests that Wanda is creating her own quarantine around Westview in WandaVision episode 5, so it could be that she is the one responsible for not letting the CMBR reach the world at large. But if he were to lose control like he does in the comics, perhaps he will serve as a catalyst for the spread of radiation. In Avengers Endgame, a holographic illustration of the effects of Thanos’ snap is shown, at which point Rocket says: “When Thanos snapped his fingers, Earth became the zero point of an energy surge of ridiculously cosmic proportions.. “Given that the planet was subjected to not just one but three of these cosmic events (Thanos’ snap, Hulk’s snap, and Tony’s snap), it could be that some Earthlings are already susceptible to being altered by CMBR.
Wanda could reform the mind stone and use it
The Mind Stone has returned in WandaVision and it will surely play a role in the story given its relationship to the MCU origin stories of Scarlet Witch and Vision. All the Infinity Stones were destroyed by Thanos shortly after his fateful snap at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, and while the surviving heroes recalled the gems of the past to undo the damage, those too are seemingly out of the picture since Captain America returned them at the end of Avengers Endgame. In WandaVision, Vision still appears to have the yellow gem on his head, despite Thanos brutally removing it. If Wanda was able to somehow reshape the Mind Stone (and perhaps the other Infinity Stones) with her reality-bending abilities, that could be a game changer for the MCU.
On the stinger at the end of the Captain America: The Winter Soldier, it was established that both Wanda and Pietro derived their abilities from the Mind Stone, then housed in Loki’s scepter. More recently in The Wakanda Archives: A Tech Exploration of the Avengers and Beyond, a guide to the MCU universe written by Black PantherShuri, help clarify why the Maximoffs survived the dangerous experimentation. Shuri writes that Hydra chose Sokovia as the base for his base due to mysterious “genetic abnormalities“found in its citizens. This could indicate a retcon is approaching that would suggest that Sokovians like Wanda and Pietro were predisposed to acquire powers due to an inactive X-Gene, which was awakened by the Mind Stone. Given the power apparently unlimited of Wanda, she could use the gem to activate mutations around the world.
There is some evidence to suggest the Mind Stone scene from the WandaVision The trailer is actually a flashback to Wanda’s days at the Hydra base. He appears to be in a gray shirt similar to the one he wore in his first appearance and looks unusually haggard and haggard. Furthermore, it appears that he is breaking the yellow stone on the scepter’s blue casing. If that’s the case, viewers may find that Wanda’s connection to the Mind Stone runs even deeper than previously thought. Perhaps you have already used the stone before, to take away the power or hide those with “genetic abnormalities“- or else make the world forget its existence. Or maybe the telepathy used by the MCU’s Scarlet Witch (a skill that isn’t really part of the comic book iteration’s skill set) is actually powered by your link to that particular stone.
Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios have never transferred a story directly from the comic book continuity to the screen, opting instead to borrow elements from different arcs to build a new narrative but at the service of their characters. Up to this point, WandaVision It’s been kind of a character study for Wanda Maximoff, so bringing in some DNA from House of M it wouldn’t be a surprising move. Wanda’s life in the MCU has been exceptionally bleak thus far, even by superhero standards, and she’s at a crossroads right now. Perhaps giving her a central role in the inevitable rise of mutants will allow her to chart an exciting new path for her.
