Ralph Fiennes hopes his M will stick around to coach the next James Bond after Daniel Craig vacates the role in the long-awaited No Time to Die.
Ralph Fiennes hopes his M sticks around to train the next James bond after Daniel Craig vacates the role. Craig first became the current 007 with 2006 Royal Casino, although Fiennes did not join as leader of MI6 M until Skyfall in 2012. No time to die The next film in the long-running spy franchise will mark the last time Craig will play Bond. Then, according to tradition, someone else will take on the iconic role. However, no one has been announced yet, and that’s largely due to No time to die has struggled to make its debut.
Once Upon a time, No time to die was slated for release in April 2020. When the coronavirus pandemic turned into a major crisis in March, the Cary Fukunaga-directed film became the first to change release dates, moving to November and kicking off a tumultuous time for movie film studios. Since then, No time to die It has undergone several changes to the release date, with the last one shipped in October this year. Although No time to die has yet to make its debut, many are already looking to the future of the James Bond franchise. It is true that there will be a new 007, but it is less clear how the secondary characters will be handled. Fiennes recently spoke with GamesRadar + Y Total movie about his new Netflix movie The excavation, and he also talked about playing M for Craig. He loved the experience, although he’s also interested in continuing Craig’s previous tenure. “If anyone from Eon Films is listening, I really want to keep training the new Bond“Fiennes said.”I love playing M and I love being a part of that franchise. But who knows? Things have to change. But I love working with Daniel. He’s a fantastic Bond. I will treasure that experience. “
There is a precedent for an M to stay beyond its original Bond. Fiennes’ predecessor, Judi Dench, began her time in the role when Pierce Brosnan was Bond and stayed for the earlier part of Craig’s time. With that in mind, Fiennes could easily stay as the inscrutable M. With just three movies (including No time to die) to his credit, has been the M with the fewest screen appearances. Perhaps it could come back one more time after a new Bond has been chosen.
Of course, that’s where the curiosity lies: Who will be next? James bond? Numerous actors have had their names included in the conversation, from Henry Cavill to Tom Hardy and, more recently, Bridgerton Breakout Regé-Jean Page. It seems unlikely that someone will be chosen until No time to die it finally arrives and audiences can properly say goodbye to Craig’s character iteration. In that sense, everyone will be waiting for a long time. So until then, the speculation will continue!
