Playing video games in the car has been a popular childhood activity since the early days of Nintendo’s Game Boy, when many were traveling by road in search of Pok√©mon or on adventures. Wario Land. The hobby has only grown over the years as mobile games have become commonplace. Now, children can play games like Fortnite on their phones as they head to the beach, and there are some really amazing experiences in mobile gaming. However, playing on a handheld and playing on a screen in the middle of the board are two very different things.

Fortunately, Tesla took precautions to make this new experience safe. While it’s working to improve its autonomous driving, with a goal of reaching full range by the end of 2021, Tesla isn’t looking to let people play and drive just yet. So, while Tesla owners can enjoy the Sorcerer (both the program and the game) and Cyberpunk 2077 in their vehicles, they can only do something when the car is not in drive mode. It seems that adding important gaming features to its cars is just part of Tesla’s big plans as it works to reinvent the auto industry.

For now, this move from Telsa may seem a bit tricky, yet another flex of what your vehicles can do. Since owners can only play games while parked, it mainly only serves to hang out at a charging station or on a camping trip. However, given everything else Tesla is working on with its autonomous driving, this appears to be a long-term play, suggesting how it expects travel to change in the future. Playing Cyberpunk 2077 for 30 minutes on the charger may not seem like much fun, but playing while Tesla Auto-pilot units could be in the not-too-distant future.
