Earlier today, we learned that HBO had broadcast Bella Ramsey to play Ellie in Craig mazin Y Neil DruckmannAdaptation of the successful PlayStation video game. The last of us. It seems the showrunners are moving quickly because Deadline is now reporting that they have broadcast Pedro Pascal in the role of Joel.

For those unfamiliar with the game, the story takes place in a post-apocalyptic wasteland where Joel, a smuggler, is tasked with getting 14-year-old Ellie out of the quarantine zone while avoiding dangerous humans and cannibalistic monsters. It’s the kind of grim scenario that shouldn’t be a problem for Mazin, who previously created Chernobyl, or for Druckmann, who handled the story for the video game.

While picking a promising guy like Ramsey for Ellie makes a lot of sense, I’m also not surprised that they’ve cast a talent like Pascal, who will attract fans of his work in game of Thrones, NarcosY The mandalorian. According to Deadline, Pascal was recently available for a new series and received “multiple great offers from major premium networks and transmitters,” but The last of us Won.

The big question now is how this will affect The mandalorian. For one thing, that’s not really a show that needs Pascal on set, as the character rarely takes his helmet off, so it’s more of a voice acting with stuntmen. Brendan wayne Y Lateef crowder Handling of work on set. On the other hand, if season 3 of The mandalorian decides it’s time for Din Djarin to start wearing his helmet a little less, that could create a scheduling conflict with The last of us, which has the first position on Pascal’s agenda.

But for now, The last of us has lined up two fabulous actors in their lead role and provided me with a powerful reminder that I should probably start playing a game that’s been available since 2013.
