WandaVision’s Emma Caulfield, Buffy’s latest student to distance herself from Joss Whedon


WandaVision star Emma Caulfield is the latest Buffy alum to endorse Charisma Carpenter’s statement in which she denounces abuse on the set of Joss Whedon.

WandaVision star Emma Caulfield, who played Anya Jenkins in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has joined former cast members in supporting Charisma Carpenter’s statement about toxic on-set behavior from show creator Joss Whedon.

In Instagram, Caulfield posted a picture of his co-star Sarah Michelle Gellar’s statement against Whedon, writing “In the wise words of my friend @sarahmgellar.” Gellar wrote that while she was proud to have played Buffy, she did not want to be affiliated with Whedon’s name. “But I am with all the abuse survivors and I am proud of them for speaking out,” she added.

Carpenter recently released an extended social media post detailing how Whedon abused her on set for both of them. Buffy the Vampire Slayer Y Angel In support of actor Ray Fisher’s accusations of racism towards the director after he took over the filmmaking duties from Zack Snyder in League of Justice. This included in particular rejecting her agent’s calls in response to Carpenter’s pregnancy, accusing her of getting pregnant to ruin Angel and forcing her to work at one in the morning despite the fact that her doctor recommended that she work fewer hours. Carpenter also revealed that she volunteered to participate in WarnerMedia. League of Justice investigation because he believed Fisher’s claim that Whedon displayed unprofessional behavior towards the cast of the DC movie. Since then, his statements have been endorsed by colleagues Buffy co-stars Amber Benson and Michelle Trachtenberg, who played Tara Maclay and Dawn Summers respectively.

Caulfield joined Buffy in season 3 as Anya “Anyanka” Jenkins, a demon of revenge who grants Cordelia Chase’s wish that Buffy Summers never make it to Sunnydale, resulting in a dystopian timeline where the city is ruled by vampires. After the wish was broken, Anya was stripped of her powers and forced to live among the residents of Sunnydale, becoming a member of the Scooby gang and eventually forming an affair with Xander Harris. She was later promoted to the show’s main cast member in season 5.

Caulfield currently plays Dottie Jones in WandaVision, a mysterious “queen bee” of high society who oversees Westview community events and gatherings.
