Wanda has created her own paradise on WandaVision, and a new promo video reveals that she and Vision are willing to fight to keep it.
Wanda Maximoff has turned the town of Westview into her own personal paradise in WandaVision, and a new promo video for the series shows that she and Vision are going to do whatever it takes to keep it that way.
One minute featurette Posted by Marvel Entertainment shows past and future clips from the series interspersed with commentary from the cast and crew. The promo highlights the idea that there is perhaps more to Westview than anyone has ever seen.
“It was really a lot of fun playing all these different decades throughout WandaVision“says Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Wanda on the show.
“And then of course it all breaks down and becomes an MCU version of the real world,” adds Paul Bettany, who plays Vision.
The series began as an apparent homage to classic American television sitcoms like The Dick Van Dyke Show Y I love lucy. However, as the show progressed, it revealed that the evolving sitcom façade was a form of reality manipulation created by Wanda herself, and that the city and its residents are under Wanda’s control. Wanda, however, is not necessarily ready to admit it.
“I can’t believe how it continues to unravel and unfold in ways that still amaze and excite me,” says Kathryn Hahn, who plays Wanda and Vision’s neighbor Agnes. In the most recent episode “In a Very Special Episode …”, Agnes seems to indirectly acknowledge Wanda’s control over Westview.
“Every day is something different,” says director Matt Shakman. “It’s high-tech Marvel with helicopters flying, and the next day is a perfect recreation of a 1950s sitcom. Some days it’s both.”
In the latest episode, acting SWORD director Tyler Hayward, played by Josh Stamberg, and agent Monica Rambeau, played by Teyonah Parris, confront Wanda outside of the protective “Hex” she has erected around town. Wanda issues a stern warning: leave you alone.
That probably won’t happen, as near the end of the video, a clip from an upcoming episode has Wanda proclaiming, “This is our house.”
“Then let’s fight for it,” answers Vision.
“I think it will be really satisfying for people when they realize what the heart of this show is,” Bettany concludes.
Written by Jac Schaeffer and directed by Matt Shakman, WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as Vision, Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, and Kathryn Hahn as Agnes. New episodes air Fridays on Disney +.
