The cover of Marauders # 20 promises an “exciting new era” for Storm, the fan-favorite mutant, as well as a throwback to one of her classic looks.
One of the most popular characters in the X-Men will see an “exciting new horizon” when Marauders # 20 goes on sale in May.
Russell Dauterman’s cover shows Storm standing on the beaches of Krakoa, gazing into the distance. In the sky, there is a picture of Storm in his “punk rock” outfit complete with black leather vest and mohawk. Standing next to her are Kitty Pryde and Nightcrawler, with Kitty wearing her blue Excalibur outfit. “The gala is approaching and the winds of change are increasing in Krakoa”, Marauders Writer Gerry Duggan joked in a cryptic statement.
The X-Men group editor Jordan D. White previously discussed Storm’s role in the X-Men line of books, teasing a bigger role for the weather-controlling mutant in 2021. Marauders # 20 more or less confirms Jordan’s statement, and since Storm has an important role in Krakoa’s affairs as a member of the Silent Council, his decisions could alter the lives of the X-Men.
Marvel previously released the covers for X Men # 20 and X Factor # 9, which features the return of Nimrod Sentinel and mutant rock stars Lila Cheney and Dazzler respectively. The X-Men will also present a new roster of mutants at the “Hellfire Gala” in June, led by Cyclops.
Written by Gerry Duggan and illustrated by Stefano Caselli, Marauders # 20 goes on sale May 5 from Marvel.
