The duo of directors, The Russo Brothers, have been provoking Captain America Chris Evans’ upcoming foray into villainy in the Netflix spy thriller, The gray man. While Evans has become known as one of the most heroic members of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he recently played a useless role in Rian Johnson’s modern crime novel, Knives out, so her knitwear style was a huge hit, leaving audiences wondering if she’ll continue to sport cozy-looking sweaters while hunting rogue killers in The gray man.
“Yeah exactly, no, he’s going to use some crazy shit on this one. He’s a really unique character, and this is Evans as a villain, so he’s a really interesting character and I think he’s going to flex quite a bit in this role.”
In addition to poking fun at Evans’ role in the film, the Russos also offered a glimpse of what audiences can expect from the thriller, calling it a “modern interpretation of a spy thriller” inspired by the Bond franchise. They also promoted The gray man as “a great pop culture movie infused with modern themes and politics.”
Based on the 2009 debut novel by Mark Greaney, The gray man follows a former CIA agent turned independent assassin named Court Gentry, who is also known as the Gray Man. Ryan Gosling will play Gentry, who is hunted around the world by his former CIA cohort Lloyd Hansen, played by Chris Evans, with Knives out the star Ana De Armas and Luke cage Alfre Woodard was also recently added to the cast.
The gray man It is expected to be one of Netflix’s largest investments to date, with a budget set at more than $ 200 million. The project sees Evans meet with Avengers Endgame Director duo Joe and Anthony Russo and the filmmaker brothers recently revealed that they are planning for the film to spawn a franchise centered around the characters of Evans and Ryan Gosling. While speaking at last year’s CCXP event, Joe Russo explained that the first film will not leave audiences with all the answers, ushering in more adventures to come. “What we are doing at Gray Man is different [is]… we won’t answer all the questions in the first movie, “he said.
“This is being envisioned as a movie series, and again, potentially branching out, we could follow other characters, but we won’t answer every question in the movie. So you’ll finish the movie, [and] you have a complete story, but you will still have questions about the universe in general. And I think that’s a way to break the model a bit, is to not give the audience everything in a movie. Don’t have a closed narrative. Have an open narrative that is [like] a chapter of a book “.
Filming in The gray man it was recently delayed due to the current world situation. The film was originally due to begin production on January 18, but as circumstances changed, Netflix decided to delay production for several weeks to ensure the health and safety of the cast and crew. Filming is set to begin in March, which means audiences will have to wait a bit longer before seeing Hollywood heavyweights Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans chasing and fighting each other around the world.
