Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and that means it’s time for romance. This year, the dates may look different. That said, who said celebrating at home would be boring? Whether you’re into classic rom-coms, indie indies, or Valentine’s Day TV episodes, Netflix certainly has everyone covered.
In fact, several romantic shows and movies will be available to stream in time for Valentine’s Day and even long after. So, make that special meal. Open that champagne. Sit back, relax, and prepare to feel the romance in the air. Here’s a look at what’s to come from February:
10 Malcolm & Marie (February 5)
Shortly after leaving the Disney channel, actress Zendaya ventured into feature films, playing the classic role of MJ in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Spiderman movies and become Spider-Man’s main love interest this time. At the same time, the actress has also been taking on more serious roles lately, as one of the main characters in this upcoming Netflix romantic movie. The film follows the couple Malcolm (John David Washington) and Zendaya’s Marie as they return home from Malcolm’s premiere and a fight leads to revelations about their relationship. The film opens on February 5.
9 The Last Paradiso (February 5)
The Last Paradiso is an upcoming indie romance drama that also bears the title The last paradise. Set in Italy, it tells the story of a man who falls in love with the daughter of a local mayor and gets into all kinds of trouble as they try to maintain their relationship. The film stars Riccardo Scamarcio, best known for playing the role of Santino D’Antonio in the 2017 film. John Wick: Chapter 2. Meanwhile, he is joined by Gaia Bermani Amaral, who plays his love interest. The film opens on February 5.
8 Get naked, get up (February 5)
This documentary is a story about how to discover self-love. Directed by Oscar nominee Michèle Ohayon, the film tells the story of several women who have thrown themselves into pole dancing to recover from trauma and body shame. For them, this form of dance is more than just an exercise regimen. The movement itself deeply touches the soul as well. While talking to MEAWW, Ohayon explained that she wanted to “celebrate this diverse group of women, their power, their pain, their claim, their raw beauty, as they bravely move through deep emotions to heal.”
7 Love squared (February 11)
This upcoming Netflix movie from Poland centers on a model leading a mysterious double life and a celebrity and womanizer who eventually falls in love with her. It’s a romantic comedy that takes a unique approach to the idea of a womanizing man who suddenly finds the perfect woman for himself and changes his ways. Meanwhile, it’s also refreshing that this movie’s idea of a double life doesn’t involve becoming a spy. The film stars Adrianna Chlebicka and Adrianna Chlebick. Squared Love essentially marks a film debut in the American market for both actors. It will premiere on February 11.
6 Red Dot (February 11)
Clearly, this is nothing like your typical romantic movie. In this upcoming Netflix thriller, a pregnant couple tries to rekindle their relationship by taking a hiking trip in Sweden. However, things take an unexpected turn when the pair clash with two local hunters. Soon, they find red laser dots aimed at their stores. As they face brutal winter temperatures and remain isolated, the pair must do their best to survive while being hunted by the shooters.
5 To All the Boys: Always and Forever (February 12)
With the continued success of Netflix To all the boys movies, it made sense for Netflix to release a third movie. And this time, everyone’s favorite teen rom-com couple is back with college plans in mind. After a recent trip to Korea, Lara Jean (Lana Condor) is thinking about college and the possibility of her being away from Peter (Noah Centineo).
Always and Forever is the last film in the franchise and while talking to E! News, Condor says that this time, his character “begins to think of the future as a young woman.” The film will open on February 12.
4 The big day (February 14)
In this upcoming series, we meet six engaged couples who make plans to be happily ever after. And it all starts with a very expensive wedding. Weddings are a multi-billion dollar industry in India, and in this show, we take a closer look at how couples prepare for their big day and how much they are willing to spend to make their dream wedding come true. We also learn a little more about these happy couples and their love story that eventually led to a journey down the aisle.
3 Behind your eyes (February 17)
For anyone who prefers romance with a touch of mystery, Netflix Behind your eyes is a miniseries that tells the story of a single mother who has an affair with her psychiatrist boss and at the same time befriends his wife. And at some point in this love triangle, things take a dark turn. The series stars Simona Brown and Tom Bateman as the single mother and the boss, respectively. Meanwhile, the role of the wife is played by Bono’s daughter, Eve Hewson. Netflix is ready to launch Behind your eyes on February 17.
2 Greet me! (February 17th)
This new Korean series focuses on a woman who looks nothing like her younger self. While she was once happy and filled with big dreams, the same woman is now completely miserable several years later. Without explanation, her younger self appears right in front of her, prompting her to make changes in the way she lives her life. Over time, the tips and tricks you have received help you get back on track. Not only that, it seems her younger self is also her key to discovering romance.
one Crazy about her (February 26)
This upcoming Spanish rom-com is, perhaps, unlike any other rom-com that no one has ever seen. Sure, the story begins with two people, Adri and Carla, who spend a night together and fall madly in love with each other. However, this is where the story deviates from other romantic movies. Very soon, Adri realizes that the only way he can be with Carla is if he allows himself to be admitted to a psychiatric facility. The film stars Álvaro Cervantes and Susana Abaitua. Cervantes previously starred in the 2011 action film Hannawhich also stars Saoirse Ronan, Cate Blanchett, and Eric Bana.
