Jason Biggs confirms that he almost played Ted Mosby in the popular comedy How I Met Your Mother, admitting that he regrets leaving the role to him.
Jason Biggs admits that he regrets giving him the role of Ted Mosby in How i met your mother. Known for playing Jim Levenstein in the american foot movies, the actor has also appeared on various television shows. In particular, from 2013 to 2019, Biggs had the role of Larry Bloom in Orange is the new black.
But, if his career had been different, Biggs could have had another big gig on the popular CBS sitcom. How i met your mother. The show, which aired from 2005 to 2014, focused on Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor) as he chronicled the ups and downs of how he met the mother of his children.

Talking with SiriusXM, Biggs confirmed that he was offered the opportunity to play Ted in How i met your mother. While praising the comedy script, citing its humor and originality, the actor explained that he wasn’t sure if he was ready to commit to a television role at the time. You can read Biggs’s full comments below.
They offered me the role. And yeah, it’s probably my biggest regret, you know, having passed. I think I was, you know, in a phase of … at the time. You know, it sounds so, so disgusting to say right now. But you know, at the time, it was like, ‘Okay, do I want to do television?’ I don’t know if I was ready to go down that path. It was a different time. Okay, do a couple of months at a concert and then move on. And then commit to a TV show at that time. I just thought, ‘Well, you know, I don’t think it’s for me. it was a really cool and fun script. I mean, it was definitely original and fun and everything, and I was fine for it. But yes, I did.
Biggs’s comments reflect how different the entertainment landscape was at the time. Although the reputation of television was reinforced, thanks to programs such as The sopranos, movie stardom was still considered the end goal for most performers, while the small screen was generally regarded as a step down or a last resort. Over the past decade, thanks to the rise of Netflix and the work of prolific producers like Shonda Rhimes and Ryan Murphy, the lines between film and television have blurred. They have even become indistinguishable, as recent projects like I can destroy you Y Small ax they reveal that the medium of storytelling matters far less than the story itself. This shift is further reflected in the number of big names, from Nicole Kidman to Chris Evans, who have had outstanding performances in critically acclaimed miniseries and dramas.
When Biggs was being considered for the role of Ted, many of these seismic disturbances had yet to take place. But with multiplexes increasingly dominated by superhero adaptations and established franchises, television is now seen as an alternative in which different kinds of narratives can flourish. In a small way How i met your mother played a role in building the esteem of the small screen in the eyes of the public and critics. The comedy stayed strong throughout its run, even experiencing a late revival, thanks in large part to the chemistry of its cast. It would be interesting, in hindsight, to see if the addition of Biggs would have fundamentally changed the history of the show.
