Michelle Trachtenberg, who played Dawn in Buffy the Vampire Slayer as a teenager, explained her accusations against Joss Whedon.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer Star Michelle Trachtenberg crafted her accusations against Joss Whedon of inappropriate behavior on the set of the show, claiming that Whedon couldn’t be alone with her. Trachtenberg joined the series during its fifth season as Buffy’s younger sister, Dawn Summers. She was fourteen when she was cast and seventeen when the series ended.
Trachtenberg’s statement comes in the wake of Charisma Carpenter, who played Cordelia Chase in Buffy and the derived series Angel, alleging that Whedon exhibited constant abuse and toxic behavior during the production of both shows. Carpenter accused Whedon of firing her from Angel due to her pregnancy and said that he constantly berated, intimidated, threatened and mistreated her on set. Carpenter spoke in support of Ray Fisher, who previously accused Whedon of toxic behavior during the production of League of Justice. Numerous others Buffy the Vampire Slayer Stars, including Sarah Michelle Gellar, have come out in favor of Carpenter and have corroborated his account.

Michelle Trachtenberg He also spoke supporting Carpenter, sharing an Instagram post by Gellar on February 10 that read: “While I’m proud that my name is associated with Buffy Summers, I don’t want to be forever associated with the name Joss Whedon.” The Trachtenberg legend alluded to Whedon’s further misconduct directed toward her as a teenager. Since then, he has updated the title, explaining that there was a rule in the Buffy establish that Whedon was not allowed “alone with Michelle again. ” Trachtenberg called his behavior “Very. No. Appropriate. And now. People know. What did Joss. Do.” See his post below.
For reasons entirely understandable to Trachtenberg’s privacy and mental well-being, the exact nature of Whedon’s misconduct is unclear. What is becoming painfully clear, however, is that he has seemingly left a trail of toxic, abusive and emotionally destructive harm behind him for decades, allegedly abusing his positions of power in reprehensible ways. Trachtenberg’s allegations are particularly alarming given his age at the time. She has said that this will be her final comment on the allegations against Whedon.
As more people who have worked with Whedon present corroborations, strengthened by Carpenter’s words, the case against him grows. Whedon’s new series, The Nevers, will premiere on HBO on April 11. Whedon left the project in November 2020, citing personal reasons, and Philippa Goslett took over as new showrunner. It’s unclear at this time whether Whedon’s departure may have been sparked by the Ray Fisher allegations, which have now been backed by Carpenter, Trachtenberg, and other stars from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
