This icy giant was first seen when he brutally beat up Layton’s crew when they tried to assault Big Alice to get to Wilford. He’s a giant that can somehow survive freezing temperatures, and given the experiments the Headwoods are conducting for Wilford, it’s no wonder he has extra strength and durability. Now, they are stripping him and testing him one more time. The new experiments start below 50 degrees, but Wilford insists they should drop below 90. However, scientists are concerned that this is the outside temperature, which means that Wilford has plans to send him into the frigid unknown .

With that being the case, it appears that Wilford will send Icy Bob to eliminate Mel. Killing her would detail Snowpiercer’s great project and give her control again. She plans to send balloons into the atmosphere around China and then back to the United States, collecting information as they travel. However, if Mel is killed by Icy Bob, the project will fall apart because she is the only engineer on board to run it. With no other choice, humanity will have to depend on the train again and Wilford will have another chance to be the savior he always wanted to be.

As well as posing as a stable leader, with no Mel around, Wilford’s elites and hospitality will also turn against Layton, creating a civil war in the process. Simply put, Wilford wants the train to keep moving on a frozen Earth, and this is a gamble that he believes will destabilize the train and destroy Alex’s spirit once and for all, marking his final revenge against Mel.
