TV Show ‘True Lies’ Gets Pilot Order On CBS

The television show True Lies has just taken a step forward, as CBS has officially placed a pilot order for the show. Based on the 1994 film of the same name by director James Cameron, the True Lies The adaptation of the television series will be developed by Alarming news creator Matt Nix, McG and Cameron for 20th Century. All three will serve as executive producers with Nix writing the pilot and McG directing.

As a reboot series, True Lies It won’t bring back Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis to reprise their roles from the film, but the pilot will follow similar characters in a nearly identical story. McG has been trying to get a True Lies reboot off the ground for years. In 2017, it was announced that Fox planned to produce a pilot with McG serving as executive producer and Marc Guggenheim writing the script. The project failed before making a real pull, but McG remained unmoved in revisiting. True Lies. Progress appeared to advance in 2019 when McG said a new show based on the movie would be developed for Disney +, but like the Fox deal, this version also seemed to fall by the wayside.

Oddly enough, I was working on another reboot of a classic movie that finally got the ball rolling. True Lies. Last year, McG was hired to write and produce the reboot of a Turney & Hooch television series for Disney +, created and produced by Matt Nix. Their partnership led to exploring other ideas, resulting in their re-release for a True Lies reboot that got the attention of CBS. It certainly didn’t help that the network already had an interest in restarting classic franchises with titles like Clarice Y The Equalizer on my way.

Written and directed by James Cameron, the original True Lies follows Arnold Schwarzenegger as US government agent Harry Tasker, a spy who struggles to balance his work with his family life. Jamie Lee Curtis plays his wife, who ends up getting involved when she realizes what her husband has been up to. Bill Paxton, Tom Arnold, Tia Carrere, Art Malik, and Eliza Dushku also starred. A box office success, the film was nominated for an Academy Awards for best visual effects.

No casting information for him has been revealed yet. True Lies TV series, but with the pilot’s green light, it shouldn’t be long before we find out all of that. While the original version of the film performed well, it also remains to be seen if the TV series will translate just as well, but it seems to be in good hands with a fan as large as McG taking the reins.
