MCU theory: Jane Foster is the most powerful Thor, thanks to the Dark World

If Jane Foster got powers from an Infinity Stone, like Wanda Maximoff and Captain Marvel, then she could be more powerful than Thor.

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for WandaVision Episode 5, “In a very special episode …” now broadcast on Disney +.

In the middle of trying to figure out what’s going on in Westview, Monica Rambeau, Jimmy Woo, and Darcy Lewis discuss how powerful Wanda Maximoff is, and Rambeau comments that she “could have eliminated Thanos on her own if he hadn’t started a bombing” , and Woo adds that Captain Marvel could have come close to beating the Mad Titan as well. From there, Lewis mentions that both heroes obtained their powers from an Infinity Stone, consolidating that Maximoff and Carol Danvers are two of the most powerful Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe thanks to their connections to the stones.

Based on this logic, Jane Foster could become the most powerful Thor in the MCU. Thor: love and thunder thanks to the events of Thor: The Dark World. It is confirmed that Foster will return in the fourth film, and this time he will become The Mighty Thor. In the comics, Foster becomes a new Thor, wielding Mjolnir after Thor Odinson is no longer able. As The Mighty Thor, Foster goes toe-to-toe with Odinson in Thor: the goddess of thunder # 4, written by Jason Aaron with art by Russell Dauterman, and the God of Thunder voluntarily renounces Thor’s mantle once he realizes that she is worthy.

While audiences have yet to see what Natalie Portman’s Mighty Thor will look like, based on her adventures in The dark world, Foster was exposed to the Reality Stone for a long period of time, so she may have developed powers from it, such as how Maximoff got his powers from the Mind Stone and how Danvers got his powers from the Stone. from space. While it is unclear how long Wanda was exposed to the Mind Stone during Hydra’s experiments, Danvers developed her powers after being exposed to the energy of the Space Stone for a short period of time. Meanwhile, Foster spent most of The dark world with the Stone of Reality, also known as Ether, on his body.

That excessive amount of exposure would likely give Foster some sort of powers, as the other stones did for Maximoff and Danvers. Foster’s powers may have been developed before Love and thunder since his character hasn’t been seen in the MCU since The dark world, so what he’s been doing between these two movies is a mystery. If Foster developed powers after The dark world, this would be unlikely to go unnoticed, especially since she was previously in a relationship with an Avenger; however, his comic counterpart was excellent at hiding his identity and superhero powers. If Foster hasn’t been hiding his potential powers, they may have been developed later on given how the stones impact people remains a mystery, with Wanda and Pietro Maximoff developing very different powers despite being derived from the same. stone.

Regardless of when his powers are activated, if The Mighty Thor’s powers are from the Reality Stone, then he will likely be more powerful than the MCU’s main Thor. As mentioned above, Maximoff nearly eliminated Thanos on his own, and the Mad Titan needs to call in a blitz to save him. Meanwhile, Captain Marvel was able to take out his ships on his own, and then fights him hand-to-hand, and Thanos was only able to take her down after using the Power Stone. Thor, on the other hand, has lost to Thanos multiple times.

At the beginning of Avengers: Infinity WarThor was defeated by the Mad Titan, and while how Thanos and his sons defeated the Asgardians was not seen on screen, it is still a shocking defeat for the self-proclaimed ‘strongest avenger’. Along with that, when Thor finally returned to Earth and plunged Stormbreaker into Thanos’s chest, Thanos took the lead and took half of all living things before escaping. Even when Thor beheaded Thanos at the beginning of Avengers Endgame, the Mad Titan wasn’t fighting. Later, during the climactic battle, Thanos nearly killed Thor with Stormbreaker, and he likely would have died if not for Captain America.

There is no doubt that Thor is one of the strongest Avengers in the MCU; However, looking at the Endgame battle, are those powered by Infinity Stones, Maximoff and Danvers, who prove to be the most powerful against Thanos. Based on this logic, Foster’s The Mighty Thor will likely overpower Chris Hemsworth’s Thor if she derives her powers from the Reality Stone.

Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, and Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher. The film hits theaters on May 6, 2022.
