From Marvel Outlaw the event started, Mrs. Marvel it has been thrown in all directions. Leading the Champions While her civilian identity is also used in advertising the anti-vigilante ‘Kamala Law’, Kamala has been responsible for safeguarding young heroes and continuing to fight crime, unaware that she is being betrayed by Viv Vision, one of your closest friends and allies. Viv has been in hiding since she inadvertently unleashed an explosion at Coles Academy, injuring multiple people. Kamala Khan was one of them, protesting the incident that led to Kamala’s Law making it illegal to be an underage superhero. This law has caused many young heroes to be detained and sent to Reeducation Centers, which have since been revealed to be darkly punitive in nature. Those who haven’t been caught are on the run, including Team Champions Ms. Marvel, Nova, Spider-Man, and Ironheart. However, it seems that no matter where they end up, they meet. This is because Vision’s daughter continues to report her location to the CRADLE task force, apparently hoping to get her former teammates off the streets.
Previously, the youths were discovered by CRADLE once again, this time while hiding in a supporter’s backyard treehouse. Surrounded by the full strength of their pursuers and determined not to go down without a fight, they dressed and prepared for battle, one that Spider-Man feared could be their last. Luckily for them, they received unexpected help from former champions Cyclops and Dust, who showed up just in time. Now, a preview from Marvel Comics reveals that Cyclops not only leads the team to freedom, but also reveals Viv’s deception and betrayal.
Once the Champions are safe, Cyclops, whose younger self was a member of the team during a time travel adventure, reveals that Viv Vision has been helping CRADLE chase them across the country. It’s a shocking revelation for the team, especially since they thought Viv was dead. The series has yet to reveal why Viv has been helping CRADLE, though the implication has been that blame for her failed mission has left her sympathetic to the cause of banning inexperienced crime fighters. Still, with many young heroes now captured, separated from their families, and seemingly brainwashed, this understandable reaction may not be enough to excuse their actions.
A synthezoid genius, Viv Vision is the last enemy anyone would want to have, but luckily the Champions you will have a respite before trying to locate your old friend. Shrine offered in Krakoa, it is likely Champions # 4 will see the team head to the mutant nation when it launches on February 17, hopefully offering Mrs. Marvel a chance to catch her breath and take comfort in knowing that while a friend has betrayed her, she can finally trust those fighting alongside her to repeal the Law of Kamala.
