As the series kicks off this new beginning, Riverdale features another serial killer, and this one is easily the most twisted and terrifying in the series.
“Chapter Eighty: Purgatory” takes time to show the lives of each of the main characters after the seven-year time jump: Archie is serving in the military, Jughead is struggling to write another hit novel, Veronica has a difficult marriage, and Betty now at Quantico working for the FBI. Betty is using her keen instincts and natural detective skills to profile serial killers for the agency. However, as we come to understand, she is recovering from an encounter with a villain she is still hunting: the Trash Bag Killer.
The Trash Bag Killer appears briefly in the episode. As the name implies, he wraps his dismembered victims in garbage bags after killing them with a chainsaw. He himself wears rags and a mask to hide his identity, which makes him look terrifying. He’s basically something out of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre or Silence of inocents. The Trash Bag Killer has already murdered multiple victims, and Betty was almost one of them.
During the investigation, the young agent finally located the killer. However, Betty went after him without backup, and ended up catching her and taking her prisoner. For two weeks, the serial killer kept Betty in a well. The experience was horrible for Betty and although she managed to escape, she is still recovering from the encounter.
Now Betty has been demoted for her mistake and is under supervision. While he was able to escape the Garbage Bag Killer, the villain is still on the run and it seems almost clear that he will return sooner rather than later. Since his identity remains a mystery, the search for the serial killer may become one of the main stories of season 5. While she failed to capture him on her own, Betty may do better now that she has reunited with him. your old friends. friends who have proven themselves against multiple dangerous villains.
