Thompson debuted as Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok, which ended with the destruction of Asgard and Thor and Valkyrie bringing the world’s survivors to a new home on Earth. She reprized the role in Avengers Endgame, which revealed that Valkyrie has become the leader of the Wanderer Asgardians in the five years after the events of Avengers: Infinity War.

Thompson offered some cryptic glimpses of what will happen in Love and thunder when he picks up the story, saying, “Yeah. I can scoff that he’s definitely the King of New Asgard when we find him. Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: love and thunder stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif, Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax, Karen Gillen as Nebula, and Christian Bale as Gorr the Butcher God. The film hits theaters on May 6, 2022.
