Gogeta is one of the most formidable warriors in all of Dragon Ball, but can the Composite Saiyan achieve Ultra Instinct like Goku?
Of all the fighters around Dragon Ball franchise, few are as powerful as the composite warrior Gogeta. Formed by the fusion of Goku and Vegeta through Fusion Dance, the canonical iteration of the character was formally introduced in 2018. Dragon Ball Super: Broly after a non-canon appearance in 1995 Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn. While Gogeta possesses many of the same incredible techniques and abilities as Goku and Vegeta, one lingering question remains after the character’s only canonical appearance: Can Gogeta achieve the Ultra Instinct combat transformation?
Introduced in the final story arc of the Dragon ball super anime, Ultra Instinct makes users achieve a kind of divine awareness of the world around them. This gives them a prodigious level of defensive ability, as they intuitively sense incoming attacks and react unconsciously. In addition to the defense boost, Ultra Instinct also significantly increases the user’s combat strength, with Goku able to launch attacks that completely took down his Tournament of Power opponent, Jiren.

Following the conclusion of the anime, the Super The manga would continue to depict Goku gaining greater mastery over Ultra Instinct. You can now gain new abilities with it and trigger transformation at will, rather than just when unconsciously pushed to exceed its normal physical limits.
What calls into question the possibility of an Ultra Instinct Gogeta is that Vegeta has never been able to achieve Ultra Instinct by himself. While Vegeta’s level of active strategy has made him one of the deadliest fighters in the Dragon Ball Multiverse, it has also prevented him from loosening up mentally and allowing divine combat energy to flow through him to trigger the Ultra Instinct transformation. While Vegeta would also get much stronger in the manga beyond the Tournament of Power, Ultra Instinct continues to elude him, much to his frustration.
With Vegeta and Goku able to transform into Super Saiyan Blue, Gogeta is equally capable of assuming the powerful form, but has never visibly attempted to achieve Ultra Instinct. While Goku’s Ultra Instinct ability suggests that Gogeta is also capable of achieving form, this would require him to control the aspect of his consciousness reported by Vegeta. With Gogeta serving as the embodiment of how powerful Goku and Vegeta could combine their power to work together, this is possible, but Gogeta may have a hard time sustaining the transformation due to Vegeta’s significant influence on the composite warrior.
With all of Goku and Vegeta’s moves at his disposal on a significantly higher level, it still seems virtually guaranteed that Gogeta can achieve the Ultra Instinct transformation on his own. While he may be a bit more unstable due to Vegeta, Gogeta is definitely aware of his own abilities and weaknesses. He could compensate for these weaknesses to take the form himself. Already unstoppable as Super Saiyan Blue, Gogeta would be a destructive force to be reckoned with in Ultra Instinct.
