Marvel didn’t tell Kat Dennings her contract was for WandaVision


Kat Dennings was unaware that her character as Thor’s Darcy Lewis was going to resurface, nor that she was going to appear on WandaVision.

Kat Dennings’ character, Dr. Darcy Lewis, was a surprise addition to the cast of WandaVisionBut it could have been Dennings herself who was most surprised of all when her character was added to the series.

Dennings explained in Jimmy Kimmel Live! On Friday, he was not expecting a call from Marvel Studios, nor that the studio was looking to use his character on the show. “Totally surprised,” Dennings said. “I got a cold call from Marvel, and I was like, ‘Yeah, of course, whatever you want, I’ll do it.’

“I didn’t know what it was,” Dennings said. “I knew these Disney + shows were going to come out. I didn’t know which one it could be, so I was a bit surprised because my character had no contact with anyone in the game. WandaVision world.”

Dennings denied knowing what the show has in store for his character. “I only know what I shot,” Dennings replied when asked by Kimmel.

After years of being absent from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Dr. Lewis unexpectedly appeared in By WandaVision fourth episode, “We interrupt this program.” Dr. Lewis, who now holds a Ph.D. in Astrophysics, was called in by the SWORD extraterrestrial intelligence agency to help investigate the anomaly surrounding the town of Westfield.

That anomaly, of course, is the self-generated “Hex” shield that Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, has placed around Westfield, transforming the city into her own private paradise, one that is beginning to show signs of fracture. “We Interrupt This Show” was the first episode told largely from a different point of view than Wanda’s, and it explained how she had created a reality that was modeled on various sitcoms on American television over the decades.

Darcy Lewis first appeared in the MCU in 2011. Thor, as a college student assisting astrophysicists Dr. Jane Foster and Dr. Erik Selvig. He returned in the 2013 sequel Thor: The Dark World, but it was not seen again until its reintroduction in WandaVision – with his own degree in astrophysics.

Dennings’s character had largely been working behind the scenes with SWORD on the series. In the most recent episode “All-New Halloween Spooktacular!”, However, Wanda expands Hex’s boundaries when Vision tries to break free and warn the outside of what is happening in Westview. Dr. Lewis is swallowed by the Hex when it expands at the end of the episode, but its effect on her is not yet known.
