Zack Snyder has released the official trailer for his version of Justice League ahead of the release of the four-hour version on HBO Max in March.
Zack Snyder’s trailer League of Justice it’s finally here. The long wait for the release of Snyder Cut is almost over. The four-hour cut will hit HBO Max on March 18 after years of fan campaigns and confirmation in 2020 that Snyder could complete his vision for the original 2017 film. Snyder left League of Justice during post-production, handing the reins over to Joss Whedon, who went on to significantly alter the final product.
Snyder has consistently poked fun at the upcoming movie, and with hours of added footage he has a lot to show for it. Snyder also did additional filming for his version, bringing back Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck and Ray Fisher. Amber Heard and Joe Manganiello also returned to shoot additional footage, and to the biggest surprise of all, Snyder shot scenes with Jared Leto. Leto to reprise his role as David Ayer’s Joker Suicide squad and Snyder showed off Joker’s new look ahead of the trailer release.
As promised, HBO Max has released the official trailer for its version of League of Justice. The trailer shows off Snyder’s new look for the film, a much darker aesthetic than something Whedon used in his final product. The trailer begins with Lex Luthor’s narration of Jesse Eisenberg, who will also appear in the remake, as he warns of the upcoming battle. We also get new looks from Cyborg and Superman and the trailer ends with the first live-action look at Jared Leto’s return as the Joker. Check out the clip below:
The configuration is very similar in the new League of Justice trailer – Affleck’s Bruce Wayne must corner a group of heroes to fight the looming threat of Steppenwolf. This time, however, we take a look at Darkseid himself, as Steppenwold approaches him on his planet Apokolips. As many know by now, Darkseid was going to be the villain at Snyder’s League of Justice follow-up, as shown in the Knightmare sequences from the original film.
Darkseid’s future in the DCEU, like Snyder’s, is up in the air. Zack Snyder’s Justice League it’s more about giving fans a glimpse of what could have been and if the trailer is any indication it would have been pretty spectacular. Whedon’s lighthearted take on heroes is clearly diminished in the trailer, as Snyder reverts to the more sinister and serious tone of his original films. With just over a month until the release of HBO Max’s League of Justice, fans can analyze the trailer for clues as to what the Snyder Cut has in store. Hopefully, the fan excitement can be translated into real change, with the prospect of restoring the SnyderVerse on everyone’s mind as the DCEU prepares to release the original version of one of the most exciting teams in comics.
