With a war looming, it is important that the characters of American Gods find their former allies.

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for American gods Season 3, Episode 5, “Sister Rising,” aired Sunday on Starz.

The last episode of American gods, “Sister Rising” brings together many established characters from the series. While all the reunited characters have appeared throughout Season 3, for many of them, this is the first time they have seen each other since Season 2, with Demeter and Mr. Wednesday being an exception.

Bilquis and Shadow

After having mysterious dreams with deities like Bilquis, Shadow Moon decides to search for her; however, he runs into a complication. Bilquis has been kidnapped, so he teams up with Technical Boy to save her; however, Bilquis is not a damsel in distress. Empowered by Oshun, an Orisha god, Bilquis endures the mental torture of her captors before she and the Orisha fill her cell with water, drowning her torturers. As Shadow comes to his rescue, Bilquis has him under control, so instead, the two catch up over dinner, and Bilquis encourages Shadow to be his true self, not the person people want him to be.

Wednesday and Demeter

While Wednesday and Demeter had their big reunion in Season 3, Episode 3, “Ashes and Demons,” she turned down All-Father’s offer to leave the mental health center, believing that he came to her for money, not love. . Despite this, Wednesday does not give up on his ex-wife, devising a heist to free Demeter and her funds from her guardian. As Shadow and Cordelia go to work off-site, Wednesday has been booked into Demeter’s retirement as a patient, coming to terms with her. If he can last a week here, she will give him one night to convince her to go with him. With the Shadow and Cordelia heist a success, it is now Wednesday to convince the goddess to leave.

Laura, Salim and Ibis

While Salim has been accompanying Ibis throughout Season 3, initially coming to him in hopes of finding the Jinn, Salim is now seeking a new purpose, even proposing that he become Ibis’s new business partner, which Ibis does not want. Fortunately, the newly resurrected Laura Moon arrives and asks if any of them know where he is on Wednesday, as she plans to kill him. Ibis, anxious to get rid of Salim, tells Laura where she can be on Wednesday, and encourages Salim to accompany her on a new journey.

Shadow and Laura

While Ibis doesn’t know exactly where he is on Wednesday, he does know that Lakeside is a landmark for Allfather. Laura takes Ibis’s advice and ends up at Mabel’s restaurant. Shadow has also returned to Lakeside after the success of his heist and Cordelia’s, stopping by Mabel’s for a bite to eat, thus meeting his ex-wife. While she primarily searches Wednesday, she and Shadow have a complicated history, and he could be key to finding the All-Father. This is also the first time they have seen each other since she came back to life in full, being primarily a walking corpse in seasons 1 and 2; However, the last time they saw each other, Shadow broke up with Laura, so it is unclear how he will react to his return as of this writing.
