Zach Galligan and Gizmo have met for the first time in more than 30 years. Galligan is back as Gremlins Billy Peltzer, while Howie Mandel returns as the voice of Gizmo. The duo are sharing the screen once again, thanks to Mountain Dew, who are promoting their new MTN DEW Zero Sugar soft drink, which is considered as good as the original. While some soda fans are sure to debate Mountain Dew’s merits on its own, everyone will agree that it’s great to see Billy and Gizmo together again.

The commercial begins with Billy and Gizmo sitting on the couch watching television. Billy Peltzer takes a sip of his new MTN DEW Zero Sugar, while his furry little friend asks to try it. Billy reluctantly hands over the bottle and Gizmo starts gulping down and getting that green liquid all over it, which obviously ends up creating a lot more Gremlins in the process. As we see Gizmo multiplying, we also turn to some 3D glasses, which is obviously a nod to the original Gremlins film.

In a new interview, Zach Galligan He was asked what it was like to work alongside Gizmo for the first time in 31 years. “It tends to be a bit more emotional experience than I think it will be,” says Galligan, who last saw his little friend in the 1990s. Gremlins 2: The New Batch. Galligan starred in the original Gremlins, which came out in 1984, and being on the set of Mountain Dew this time brought him back to his days on the set of the original film. Even filming a soda commercial was enough to make Galligan choke on being with Gizmo again. He went on and had this to say.

“There was a time when we were filming the commercial, and we had a little break, and the puppeteer is next to me and he’s manipulating Gizmo’s arms. I leaned over to Gizmo and said, ‘How are you? to see you. He was so realistic that after hours of working with him, he has his own reality. I drowned a bit, not so much from meeting the puppet, but rather it takes you back 37 years in a way that almost nothing else it does. “

Howie Mandel, who voiced Gizmo in Gremlins, He returned to offer his services for the new commercial. However, he and Zach Galligan never met. “The strangest and most interesting trivia about Gremlins is that, to this day, even though I am very much associated with Gizmo, I have never met Howie Mandel or talked to him once in my entire life, “says Galligan. Mandel was not on the set of Mountain Commercial Dew wasn’t even on the set of the original movie when they were filming. But Galligan still wants to meet him. “It’s puzzling that our paths have never crossed. I don’t know anything about the man, he doesn’t know anything about me, unless I know. At some point I hope to meet him before I die. “

While Howie Mandel and Zach Galligan never met, they certainly still have chemistry like Billy and Gizmo in the Mountain Dew commercial. And while Galligan was initially concerned when approached about the commercial, he was pleasantly surprised to land on set and find that the new version of Gizmo looks just as good, if not better, than the original. “To my delight and later surprise, the technology was sharp, and not surprising, but arguably much better than 37 years ago,” says Galligan.
