Ming-Na Wen, BD Wong, and Matthew Rhys joined the cast of the prequel to HBO Max’s animated television series Gremlins.
Gremlins: Secrets of Mogwai, the next anime Gremlins HBO’s prequel series Max, has found its voice cast.
According to Variety, The mandalorian Y Mulan (1998) star Ming-Na Wen has joined the cast, alongside BD Wong (Gotham), James Hong (Blade Runner, Mulan (1998))) and Matthew Rhys (The Americans).
The 10-episode series will follow Mr. Sam Wing, the owner of the store where Billy’s father met Gizmo in 1984. Gremlins – as a 10 year old boy, exploring how he came to know the mogwai. Sam travels through China with his friend Elle to return Gizmo to his family and discover a hidden treasure. However, behind them is a power-hungry industrialist and his evil army of Gremlins.
Sam will voice Izaac Wang, while AJ LoCascio and Gabrielle Green will voice Gizmo and Elle, respectively. Wen will take on the role of Sam’s mother, Fong Wing, while Wong will play his father, Hon Wing. Sam’s grandfather will be played by Hong, while Rhys has been cast as the series’ villain, Riley Greene.
Written and produced by Tse Chun, and produced by Darryl Frank, Justin Falvey, Sam Register, and Brendan Hay, Gremlins: Secrets of Mogwai stars Ming-Na Wen, BD Wong, James Hong, Matthew Rhys, Izaac Wang, AJ LoCascio, and Gabrielle Green. The series will premiere on HBO Max in 2021.
