As the Future State Justice League seeks to build its ranks, the team seeks out duped recruits hailing from the Teen Titans and beyond.

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Future State: Justice League # 2, by Joshua Williamson, Robson Rocha, Daniel Henriques, Romulo Fajardo, Jr., and Tom Napolitano, on sale now.

While much of Future State presents a bleaker possible future for the DC Universe, the Justice League of this timeline has come together to defend its reality from all manner of overwhelming threats and has managed to continue the heroic legacy of its predecessors. And after weathering an insidious attack by the Hyperclan, the team has grown closer and is looking to expand their numbers, with several notable prospects already in mind.

Now, here are all the candidates the Future State Justice League is considering for recruitment following the defeat of the Hyperclan in Future State: Justice League # two.

Power plant

Powerhouse Future State

One of the most prominent superheroes in the recruit hologram display is Powerhouse, created by Joshua Williamson, Rafa Sandoval and Jordi Tarragona in 2019. The flash # 59. Alexa Antigone grew up under an oppressive regime in the Latin American nation of Corto Maltese before gaining access to the Force Force and creating the Powerhouse superhero cloak.

In Future State, Powerhouse serves as a member of Shazam’s superhero squad, suggesting that something may have happened to the team led by a more violent iteration of Earth’s most powerful Mortal.


The people of Metropolis have a new guardian defending their streets, with Jake Jordan wielding the shield in the pages of the Future State: Superman from Metropolis miniseries in a Sean Lewis and Cully Hamner backup story. Jake used to be the guardian of Manhattan before moving to Metropolis after Clark Kent’s exile from Earth.

The character was created by Grant Morrison and Cameron Stewart in 2005. The Guardian of Manhattan # 1 as part of Morrison’s Seven Soldiers of Victory. After this, Jake has periodically taken up the shield to defend Metropolis as one of its greatest heroes.

Crush, the daughter of the intergalactic bounty hunter and Main Man Wolf is also on the recruits list. Created by Adam Glass, Robson Rocha and Daniel Henriques in 2018 Teen Titans Special # 1, Crush is half Zarnian and has inherited much of his father’s incredible skills and violent tendencies.

The character was seen in the initial Future State announcement and has since been seen among the survivors of the explosive tragedy that nearly destroyed all of the Teen Titans at their headquarters on Titans Island.


Robin Eternal Tim Drake Future Status

Perhaps the most recognizable hero seen in the Justice League recruitment drive hologram is Robin, although it is unclear who Wonder Boy really is. Given what is happening elsewhere in Future State, this particular hero appears to be a super powerful Tim Drake.

Meghan Fitzmartian and Eddy Barrows’ Future State: Robin Eternal The miniseries got the hero hooked on Lazarus Resin, a new drug derived from raw materials from the Lazarus Pit. After dipping directly into the substance, Tim gained enhanced healing factor and superhuman strength, but with a visibly darker demeanor.

Martian lady

Another veteran teenage titan considered by the Justice League for recruitment is Miss Martian, the reformed white Martian M’Gann M’orzz. Created by Geoff Johns and Tony S. Daniel in 2006 Teen Titans # 37, the character has served as a prominent member of the team as he tried to find his place in the world and overcome the villainous reputation of his fellow white Martians.

Elsewhere in Future State, Miss Martian served alongside Powerhouse on the Shazam team, raising further questions about what exactly happened to the electric superhero ensemble.

Mr miracle

More than just a master escape artist, Mister Miracle has been constantly popping up in Future State to embark on a high-flying cosmic mission that puts you right into the action. And while Scott Free’s current status is unknown, the Mister Miracle of Future State is Shilo Norman, created by Jack Kirby in 1973’s Mister. Mr miracle #fifteen.

As the third character to hold Mister Miracle’s mantle, Shilo was a prominent member of Morrison’s Seven Soldiers, escaping death in the end. Beyond Future State, Shilo will star in a new Mr miracle miniseries to be released during Infinite Frontier by Brandon Easton and Fico Ossio in May.
