Season 2 of Servant takes a much darker turn with his kidnapping plan, which creates some trouble for the Turners.
WARNING: The following contains SPOILERS for Server Season 2, Episode 5, “Cake,” aired Friday on Apple TV +.
Season 2 of Server It takes a dark turn for the Turners when a grieving Dorothy (Lauren Ambrose) drugged and kidnapped Leanne (Nell Tiger Free) as part of the plan to get Jericho back. Dorothy surprised her husband, Sean (Toby Kebbell), with her cruelty, especially when she tricked Tobe into doing the job.
However, as viewers see more of the conditions in which Leanne is being kept, it becomes clear that this kidnapping plot has some major problems.

Leanne is locked in the attic, which is a strange choice because Dorothy leaves behind mannequins, coat racks, and a bunch of other things that Leanne could arm herself with and there’s a window that could be used to call for help. To make matters worse, they have specific hours to let Leanne out as a pet, but instead of monitoring and controlling her, she freely roams the kitchen. You have access to utensils like knives and forks and you are even allowed to cook and bake.
It’s clear that the Turners want her to be comfortable and play mind games to get the baby back, but after Dorothy tried to bury her in the cellar, it’s not a good idea to give her items that can be used against them. Things get even more ridiculous when Dorothy lets Tobe in to talk to her because she realizes she’s being held against her will. Leanne could also convince him to sneak her out because she has access to doors. In truth, Tobe’s presence is contradictory to isolate Leanne and protect everyone’s secrets.
It’s shocking that Leanne didn’t tell Tobe what’s really going on, making this a confusing situation that jeopardizes everything the Turners have been working for. To top it off, they know that Leanne is sneaking out of the attic and using Sean’s computer to send gifts home and yet they don’t do anything about it.
In fact, they’re pretty loose with the doors open because the last episode saw the couple and Julian arguing outside when Leanne might have run out of the kitchen. Sure, they could have held her down, but her screams would have drawn attention to the house. It seems Leanne just doesn’t mind being held prisoner, even though she’s made it very clear that she wants out.
Starring Lauren Ambrose, Toby Kebbell, Nell Tiger Free, and Rupert Grint, the second season of Servant airs every Friday on Apple TV +.
