X-Men: The Animated Series producer Larry Houston still waiting for a reboot on Disney + after a X Men reference in WandaVision renewed hope that the original cartoon series will return. Originally for five seasons in the 1990s, the X Men Cartoon has been enjoying a resurgence in popularity in recent years with Disney + hosting every episode of the cult classic series.

Ever since X-Men: The Animated Series aired on Disney +, many fans have been asking the streamer to update the series with the same team behind the original show. Evan Peters repeating his X Men paper in WandaVision reignited rumors that Disney would soon be making more of Marvel’s favorite mutants. Despite rumors that a reboot could soon go into production, nothing official has been done on that front yet, and it’s unclear if we’ll ever see any new episodes.

Giving Marvel fans an update on the possible reboot on the Much Talk About Nothing podcast, Houston explains that everyone is still on board and all they’re waiting for is a call from Disney.

“We’ve made it known, like, ‘Hey, we’re still here. We are not underground. We really want to pick up where we left off. ‘ But it was the crickets. I have no idea what they are doing … When I saw the WandaVision thing, I was like, ‘OMG. They are taking the first baby step! ‘But we haven’t heard anything, so I have nothing to report. “

Sadly, given that several of the original voice actors have passed away in recent years, Houston adds that time is ticking if they ever want to bring the show back, suggesting Disney must call them soon or it just won’t happen.

“I wish they did [reboot the series], because we lost the voice actor that Cyclops did. Norm Spencer passed away. And then the kind that Magneto did [David Hemblen] passed away. The guy who made Juggernaut [Rick Bennett] passed away. All this in the last five years. So, it’s like, ‘Hey guys, let’s go!’ “

Along with the aforementioned actors, X-Men: The Animated Series featured the voices of Cathal J. Dodd as Wolverine, Lenore Zann as Rogue, Iona Morris and Alison Sealy-Smith sharing the role of Storm, George Buza as Beast, Alyson Court as Jubilee, Catherine Disher as Jean Gray, Cedric Smith as Professor. X and Chris Potter as Gambit. In addition to his voice cast and colorful animation style, X Men He is also highly remembered and appreciated for his incredible theme song.

For what it’s worth, we’re probably closer to the cartoon restarting more than ever. Recognizing Fox X Men movies in WandaVision It’s also just the beginning of Professor X’s students onboarding the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and we’ll soon see other characters from the franchise in other Marvel shows and movies. If Wolverine and his friends are about to cause a stir in Marvel’s live-action projects, then maybe Disney will also order more episodes of the cartoon series soon.
