Scarlet Witch’s pocket reality in WandaVision episode 7 starts to fail and she can’t really do anything to fix it, this is why.

Warning! Spoilers below for WandaVision Episode 7.

The Scarlet Witch pocket reality continually fails in WandaVision episode 7, “Breaking The Fourth Wall” and for whatever reason, she couldn’t do anything about it. As Marvel Studios’ Disney + show slowly draws to a close, holding the Hex becomes increasingly difficult due to a number of reasons. From the SWORD infiltration to Vision’s attempt to break out of pocket reality, Wanda has been able to stick together, until now, when she begins to lose control over her grip on the bubble.

What started as a movement to start an ideal life in the suburbs with Vision has slowly turned into a nightmare for Scarlet Witch in WandaVision. Even though it was very obvious that there was something wrong with Westview from the beginning, he was at least able to keep things together inside the Hex. It’s still unclear how the Maximoff Anomaly began, as Wanda repeatedly claimed that she’s actually not sure how she can do all of this. Following the reveal that friendly neighbor Agnes is really Agatha Harkness and the series’ secret villain the entire time, this is explained a bit. Still, it doesn’t diminish Wanda’s attachment to pocket reality considering how lonely and heartbroken she had felt earlier when she confessed to Pietro from Evan Peters. So even if Agnes / Agatha was secretly manipulating her to keep the bubble, it’s safe to assume that Scarlet Witch was already motivated to hold this fantasy reality.

That is why in the last episode of WandaVision, Wanda was frustrated to find that she couldn’t prevent pocket reality from failing. She’s the one who created this fantasy in Westview, so why exactly couldn’t she fix the Hex malfunction? It goes back to what happened during the last moments of episode 6, “New Spooktacular Halloween!” where he impulsively expanded the mystical barrier of his pocket reality to save Vision from dying beyond the border of the hex. Not only did he extend the scope of his illusion, but he also welcomed more people through SWORD’s agents, and for them to function according to the idealized life that he wants to live, he also needs to control them in some way. That obviously affected Scarlet Witch as seen in the opening scene of episode 7; has been drained, making it difficult for you to keep the bubble intact.

Again in WandaVision Episode 3, “Now In Color”, the hex also started to malfunction when Scarlet Witch was distraught due to pregnancy contractions. Inside her house, things were crazy, but it was revealed that other houses in Westview apparently had some setbacks at the same time as well, hence Monica Rambeau, aka Geraldine, found herself at the Vision residence, borrowing a bucket because the pipes on your roof blast. While she was able to prevent Geraldine from finding out that she is pregnant, Scarlet Witch had a hard time and ultimately couldn’t get rid of the stork that mysteriously came to life and signaled the pending arrival of her twin children. This supports the idea that when distracted or exhausted, Wanda is having a harder time preserving the illusion.

If things turned out well in Westview and Scarlet Witch didn’t have to deal with unexpected problems to maintain the hex, it’s fair to wonder if living inside it would actually be sustainable for her. As mentioned above, in the early episodes of WandaVisionShe didn’t have much trouble going back to time when things didn’t go the way she wanted or when she wanted something to change. Now that there are internal and external factors that threaten your fantasy world, there is less chance that you will be able to return to the ideal life in the suburbs that you lived before.
