The disastrous launch of Cyberpunk 2077 has prompted Take-Two CEO and Rockstar Games owner Strauss Zelnick to respond, noting that games should not be rushed.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick recently spoke about the controversial launch of Cyberpunk 2077. The successful CEO pointed out how important it is for games to aim for the highest level of polish and not rush to get something out the door.
Zelnick’s company oversees many of the top developers in the industry. From 2K Games to Rockstar Games, Take-Two has been responsible for some of the best-made titles of the last generation, such as Grand theft auto v Y Red Dead Redemption 2, although it also had some bugs with games like WWE 2K20. That said, Zelnick knows what it takes to pitch a good game and what it takes to pitch a bad game, at least for the most part.

In a recent meeting with investors (via GamePressure), Strauss Zelnick referenced “the work of a rival studio that fell short of expectations” when discussing rushed game developments. It doesn’t take a detective to figure out that you’re probably talking about the failed launch of Cyberpunk 2077. “I think the case you are referring to reflects the fact that it is always better to wait for perfection if you can create perfection. And all our labels seek perfection. And we don’t always make it, sometimes we fall short. But that’s the goal“Zelnick said.
Zelnick continued to speak about Rockstar ethics. The company is known for taking its time in game development, which is why Grand theft auto 6 It hasn’t even been announced nearly a decade after the last entry. Most developers have internal release dates or target windows, but it seems Rockstar doesn’t fully comply with that and really only releases something when it’s ready. “So yeah, sure, and it’s great that Rockstar Games continues to release bonus content and bonus content for Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Online. But they have posted material that they really believe they are passionate about and that it is of the highest possible quality. And that means that we are not on a weekly cadence and we will not be in that means that we do not necessarily know the exact release date. But what we do know is that we will wait for it to be as perfect as possible.. “
It’s impossible to submit a game without bugs, but there is a level where bugs become unacceptable. Cyberpunk 2077 it was so broken that it resulted in tons of refunds and the game was delisted from digital retailers. It’s nice that Zelnick lets its proven developers really take the time to develop their games. CD Projekt Red said it would only release the game when it’s ready, but that was shown to be untrue by the disastrous release of Cyberpunk 2077.
