At Star Wars movies, Luke is adept at his lightsaber technique, defeating the mighty Darth Vader in his final duel and severing Vader’s hand immediately. Luke can also wield the Force with great skill, and he gave his life using the Force to delay Kylo Ren’s forces and buy Stamina time to escape from Crait. Now can Luke use his powers to challenge the most powerful heroes in the shonen anime world and win?
10 CAN DEFEAT: Edward Elric, The Crafty Alchemist (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)
Edward Elric is an expert not only in alchemy, but also in martial arts and the scientific process. This combination makes him a flexible and unpredictable opponent, as he can understand, break down, and reshape just about anything. Edward is very resourceful and thinks on his feet.
If Ed took on Luke, he could challenge the Jedi hero with alchemy attacks, ranging from fast-moving pillars to spikes on the ground and more. Luke, however, has the Force to guide him, and he would finish Ed in no time. It helps that his lightsaber can go through anything Ed can do.
9 CAN’T: Genryusai Yamamoto, the main captain (Bleach)
Captain General Yamamoto is arguably the most powerful Soul Reaper to ever exist, and he boasts immense spiritual pressure and advanced technique alike. His swordsmanship is incredible, but that’s not all. He can also conjure fire to vaporize his enemies.
Yamamoto would use the full extent of his powers against Luke Skywalker, to compensate for Luke’s ability to read Yamamoto’s actions through the Force. The sheer power of Yamamoto’s bankai will reduce Luke to ashes, with or without force.
8 CAN DEFEAT: Touka Kirishima, The Rabbit Ghoul (Tokyo Ghoul)
Touka Kirishima is much more than meets the eye. Touka was born a ghoul with a ukaku-style kagune, granting him a wing-shaped appendage (two later) that can allow for quick attacks and ranged attacks as well. And like most ghouls, Touka can survive serious injuries and regenerate.
Those are awesome powers, but Touka can’t handle the Force. She will quickly tire of fighting Luke, and the Force will allow Luke to evade Touka’s blows and find his way to launch a counterattack. His lightsaber will soon cut Touka into sizzling pieces.
7 CAN’T: Brandish, The Spriggan 12 Turncoat (Fairy Tail)
The members of Spriggan 12 are all-powerful wizards fighting for the empire of Zeref, but three of them stand out, one of those three being Brandish (although she later became a neutral group and a laid-back friend of Fairy Tail). He has a strangely listless demeanor, given his immense powers. If someone bothers her, she will witness her powers first hand.
Brandish can quickly resize any object, even an entire land mass, and render his enemies defenseless. It can shrink a person and restrain them, and it would do exactly that to Luke Skywalker before he can land a blow on her. Pint-sized Luke must admit defeat.
6 CAN DEFEAT: Levi Ackerman, The Scout Hero (Attack On Titan)
Against most sword users, Levi Ackerman has a huge advantage, given his incredible skills, agility, and Ackerman’s natural talent. He faced the Female Titan (Annie) and defeated her, and did the same with the Beast Titan (Zeke). But he is not prepared to face a lightsaber.
Levi is fast and agile, but Luke can predict his movements through the Force, and Luke’s lightsaber blade will melt Levi’s blades with impunity. Then Luke can take over Levi via the Force and throw him to the ground or against a wall, and knock him out.
5 CAN’T: Jotaro Kujo, The Stardust Hero (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure)
Jotaro Kujo is a grumpy antihero who seeks to save his mother, Holly, from the insidious influence of DIO. He will save the day with his mighty Stand, called Star Platinum, and he will bring his incredible fists and speed to endure.
Luke cannot destroy Star Platinum without a Stand of his own, which means he attacks even with Jotaro. Then if Jotaro has access to The World’s time-freezing powers, he can use it to get a few free seconds and break Luke’s neck or crush his skull.
4 CAN DEFEAT: Prince Zuko, The Redeemed Bender (Avatar: The Last Airbender)
Prince Zuko underwent many personal changes over the course of this series, and once he achieved inner balance and peace, he reached new heights in Firebending. Zuko may not be a prodigy like his sister Azula, but he had the benefit of personal guardians as a child.
Zuko finally gained the skills necessary to duel his sister, but he cannot handle someone like Luke, who can predict and read Zuko’s movements through the Force and counter them. Zuko will have no defenses to fall back on when Luke grabs him through the Force and throws him hard against the wall.
3 CAN’T: Rimuru Tempest, A Humble Slime (That time I got reincarnated as a Slime)
Defeating Luke Skywalker is a difficult task for any anime hero, especially those who cannot alter the rules of time and space to avoid Luke’s Force abilities. However, Rimuru Tempest has many abilities on her side, and she will use them all against her Jedi opponent.
Luke can wield Rimuru’s abilities one at a time, but if Rimuru overwhelms him with enough of them at once, Luke will be seriously injured, and Rimuru can take this opportunity to eat Luke with his Predator ability and finish him off. The Last Jedi turned into a slime lunch.
two CAN DEFEAT: Izuku Modiriya, AKA Deku (My Hero Academia)
Izuku Midoriya would actually defeat a Jedi like Luke, if not for Luke’s ability to sense Izuku’s movements through the Force and thus avoid them. Izuku is a melee hero wielding One For All, and while he has the strength to pulverize Luke’s body, it’s easier said than done to catch a Jedi by surprise.
No matter what kind of Smash, Shoot Style, or Full Cowling effect Izuku uses, Luke will stay one step ahead and enter Izuku’s blind spot while Izuku is still launching his attack. One strike from the lightsaber will split Izuku in half, ending the fight.
1 CAN’T: Tatsumaki, AKA Tornado Of Terror (One-Punch Man)
Tatsumaki is an enormously powerful hero, comparing well to Saitama himself in many ways. His telekinetic powers are highly advanced, allowing him to lift, launch, and manipulate almost any object around him, even those moving at high speeds (such as projectiles fired from an alien battleship).
This allows Tatsumaki to take on Luke equally, with his powers rivaling even the Force on a good day. It could take over and crush Luke at some point in this bitter struggle, and end the Jedi order once and for all.
