She explained that she “is not a person who hates. In fact, I go out of my way and out of my way all my life, not to be a hateful person. And I’m hot blooded. But it’s usually hot blooded about the people who are bullied. And when I saw people being bullied, that they were silenced and afraid to speak up, I’m not like … I don’t want to talk, I want to create art, you know, but I have a big problem with bullies. And I have a big problem with, you know, I don’t have a problem with power, but I have a big problem with abuse of power. “
In September 2020, Carano responded to fan requests to add pronouns to their social media (a common thing cisgender and transgender people do on social media to avoid being confused) by adding the “pronouns” “boop / bop / beep. “This received a severe reaction, as it was considered a” transphobic “joke. When Carano refused to use the apology Lucasfilm wrote for her, she was removed from advertising for The Mandalorian Season 2 and Disney canceled plans to give Carano theirs. derived series.
Then earlier this month, when Carano compared the plight of the Jewish people in the run-up to the Holocaust to conservative people in America today, Lucasfilm announced that Carano was no longer part of the Star Wars franchise.
Carano believes that Disney and Lucasfilm were bullying her to force her to conform and feels that dealing with that bullying will help others. She promises that she will never stop defending people like her who were forced to change their public opinions:
[T]He thought this would happen to anyone else, especially someone who couldn’t handle this the way I can. Now, they can’t do that, they can’t make people feel that way. And if I fasten them, then the little girls and boys that aren’t putting on – like they’re not getting a good shake growing up right now. If I bow, it will be okay for these companies that have a history of lying to be lying and doing this to other people, and they have done it to other people. And I’m not going to fall without a fight.
