Warning: Spoilers for WandaVision ahead.

In an interesting (and probably unintended) parallel, the color signatures of magic users and people adjacent to magic in WandaVision roughly align with the colors of the Infinity Stones, with similar powers to match. When the series began, Wanda, also known as Scarlet Witch, was the only magic user and Vision also had powers. But as the series has progressed, its perfect sitcom suburbs of Westview have begun to populate with all manner of super-powered individuals, each bringing a distinctive color when wielding their powers.

The first three phases of the MCU are considered the “Infinity Saga” and deal with the general story of Thanos collecting the Infinity Stones to wield the Infinity Gauntlet and end half of life in the universe. Each Infinity Stone had its own characteristic color and power. The Space Stone is blue, the Reality Stone is red, the Power Stone is purple, the Time Stone is green, the Mind Stone is yellow, and the Soul Stone is orange. Each was incredibly powerful on its own – so powerful, in fact, that just touching one was fatal to most creatures in the universe except the most powerful beings. However, the stones, and the gauntlet itself, were apparently destroyed in Avengers Endgame when Tony Stark stole the Infinity Gauntlet and reversed the destruction of Thanos’ snap.

Still, the Infinity Stones were incredibly powerful creations, forged from the Big Bang itself. Assuming the MCU has not chosen to completely erase the basics of physics, the first law of thermodynamics, also known as the law of conservation of energy, states that energy cannot be created or destroyed, but only You can transform or transfer from one form to another. . Even with Stark undoing Thanos’ manifestation of half the universe being destroyed, it’s hard to imagine that the Infinity Stone simply disappeared. All that power and potential has to disappear somewhere. While the characteristic colors of every powerful adult in WandaVision It’s almost certainly a stylistic choice on the part of production design, it’s still interesting to see how the adult characters from the Disney + series line up with an Infinity Stone counterpart in a neat little parallel.

Scarlet Witch – Reality Stone (Red Powers)

Scarlet Witch Costume by WandaVision

Throughout the MCU, Wanda’s magic as Scarlet Witch has manifested in shades of red. Of course, that’s his trademark color in the comics and the hue of his aptly named superhero nickname. But that’s exactly why it was always fascinating and a little weird that he got his powers from the yellow mind stone in the MCU. Initially, it made sense considering his live-action origin story and background, but it didn’t align with his traditional powers in the comics.

With the arrival of WandaVisionHowever, Wanda has finally turned into her true reality warping Scarlet Witch powers. To put it bluntly, she acts much more like the Reality Stone than the Reality Stone itself has operated in the MCU thus far, and first appeared in Thor: The Dark World but it doesn’t really seem to alter reality in any way. With Wanda’s formidable ability to change and transform reality, she has almost become something of a manifestation of the Reality Stone.

Vision – Mind Stone (Yellow Powers)

Origins of Ultron vision

Vision easily draws the most direct parallel between an Infinity Stone and its powers. The Mind Stone currently on Vision’s forehead may have given Scarlet Witch her powers, but it did give Vision real life. It is the stone embedded in his head that gives him power and gives him consciousness and free will. As a result, his powers manifest in a golden hue, which makes perfect sense considering where he draws his energy from.

However, something interesting has happened to Vision in WandaVision – beyond him being dead and then resurrected. In the MCU movies to date, Vision’s powers have been shown to be more based on science and physics, with the ability to fire a powerful beam of energy from the Mind Stone into his head and change its molecular structure to pass through solids. objects. In WandaVision, her powers operate much more like magic, and they are all mind-based, exactly as Scarlet Witch used to be. He still has the power to fly, but outside of that, every time he uses his power on WandaVision, it has been in its characteristic shade of yellow and has been directly concerned with affecting people’s minds, either to remove them from the fog of magical mind control or to subdue them again. In that sense, it seemed to become an extension of the Mind Stone that empowers it.

Agnes / Agatha Harkness – Power Stone (Purple Powers)

Somehow, Agnes, who was revealed to be the ancient witch Agatha Harkness in WandaVision Episode 7, has a link to the Infinity Stones that appears to be merely symbolic on the surface. After all, she’s the one in control of Westview, and therefore she’s the one with all the power. The purple of his magic in action is symbolically aligned with the idea of the Power Stone.

However, Agatha has also shown that she manifests power quite directly. Episode 7 revealed that Westview is a nexus, a source of great power in the Marvel comics, which perhaps explains why Wanda’s powers have suddenly increased exponentially in significant ways. The episode also showed that Agatha was drawing directly from him, with the purple tendrils of her magic sinking roots into the nexus and seeming to draw strength directly from the magic center, and it has made her powerful, indeed. On numerous occasions, Wanda has defended herself against Vision, explaining that while she could control many things, she is by no means strong enough to control everyone in the city. Agatha, as it turns out, is. It’s a display of raw magical power that is unprecedented in the MCU, and Agatha drawing power from the nexus has turned it into something almost like a battery of magical energy, or a manifestation of the raw potential of the Power Stone.

Monica Rambeau – Space Stone (Blue Powers)

Monica Rambeau Powers at WandaVision

At first glance, Monica Rambeau doesn’t appear to be particularly magical in her origins. It was previously confirmed that instead, by breaking through the Scarlet Witch hex barrier she had begun to rewrite her DNA. But in a way, Monica as a superhero is a creation of Scarlet Witch, albeit second-hand. It was Wanda’s curse that began to mutate Monica, so it could be argued that Monica Rambeau’s powers are adjacent to magic. It’s also worth noting that the hex was formed not from sheer manifested magic, but from something identified as containing cosmic microwave background radiation.

As such, it makes sense that Monica’s powers parallel the Space Stone. While he does not manifest an internal power signature, episode 7 nevertheless revealed that his eyes turn a brilliant blue when he uses his new energy-based powers. Monica is now essentially a living representation of a different meaning of “space”, not of space as in distance, but of space as in outer space. She has strong ties to astrophysics and aeronautical work with SWORD, and has in fact had a tie to outer space since she was a child and had a history with Carol Danvers. He dresses in a spacesuit and drives a SWORD space rover towards the Hex barrier in an attempt to finally rewrite his DNA and give him powers forever. Those powers were caused by cosmic radiation and manifest in a similar way. Everything about Monica Rambeau makes her a daughter of space, and therefore the perfect avatar of the Space Stone.

That leaves only two Infinity Stone energies unaccounted for.

Doctor Strange -Time Stone (green powers)

If one accepts the idea that certain characters in the MCU have become the manifestations of the destroyed Infinity Stones, or, perhaps more accurately, the new containers for that power, it means that two more stones have yet to be relocated: the one Soul Stone and the Stone of Time. It is a reasonable assumption to believe that the Time Stone will once again end up with Doctor Strange, whose powers are vast and thus physically manifest in many ways. Still, the good doctor’s magical powers have often been the same shade of green as the Time Stone he wore around his neck, especially if he was using it to harness any time-based magic. His regular magical “shield” may be a golden yellow color, but everything related to the magic of time is always marked in emerald green.

Mephisto – Soul Stone (Orange Powers)

WandaVision every Mephisto reference explained

The resurgence of the Soul Stone is somewhat more difficult to predict, as no characters actually in the MCU it has an obvious link to him or to any soul-based magical power or ability. However, Mephisto has been referenced throughout WandaVision, maybe even as the general villain of MCU Phase 4, and all his Reason to be it is the harvest and slavery of human souls. Of the Infinity Stones shown so far in the MCU, Soul Stone has been the least explored. Thanos acquired it, but then immediately added it to the Infinity Gauntlet; it was the only one of the stones that did not get a separate sample of its power or how exactly it could be used. Still, his energy is still floating in the cosmic ether; it’s only a matter of time before it reappears in a new form. Mephisto, as a demon based on the dimension of hell whose powers of fire have been depicted in the comics hundreds of times as orange flames, would be a powerfully suitable container for the Soul Stone. If it happens in WandaVision or an upcoming MCU Phase 4 movie or TV show remains to be seen and again, the colors are most likely just a stylistic choice on behalf of the art department. Still, it’s fascinating that such a strong parallel can be drawn between characters positioned as some of the most powerful in the MCU right now, if they don’t move on, and the Infinity Stones.
