Netflix has released a trailer for A week away, a new musical that will debut next month. The streaming service acquired the global rights to the film last year, which comes from director Roman White, known for his work on music videos with artists like Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber. For his next feature, White teamed up with comedy icon David Koechner and a young cast led by Kevin Quinn for a week at a summer camp filled with music and romance.
The trailer opens with a troubled teenager named Will Hawkins, played by Kevin Quinn, who comes to church camp for a week. Unsurprisingly, he’s not thrilled by the prospect. David koechner He then explains the meaning of the camp’s name, “Aweegaway,” which indicates that some people are only a week away from a life-changing experience. That’s when Will meets Avery, who kicks off this life-changing week. There is a lot of singing. Much dancing. Much singing. Much romance.
The cast also includes Bailee Madison, Jahbril Cook, Kat Conner Sterling, Iain Tucker, and Sherri Shepherd. Alan Powell and Kali Bailey wrote the script. Powell also serves as a producer alongside Steve Barnett and Gabriel Vasquez. Vicky Patel is an executive producer. Adam Watts is behind the original music. A week away focuses on troubled teenager Will Hawkins (Kevin Quinn) has a run-in with the law that puts him at a major crossroads: going to a juvenile detention center or attending Christian summer camp. Initially a fish out of water, Will opens his heart, discovers love with a regular camp customer (Bailee Madison) and a sense of belonging in the last place he expected to find him.
The film’s official soundtrack will be available to pre-order on February 26. It is accompanied by the release of several opening singles, including Let’s make a memory, Place in this world Y Best Thing Ever (stage version). The full 13-track album will be released on March 19 through all digital streaming providers and will include special features from Johnnyswim, Tauren Wells, and Riley Clemmons.
This is one of the plethora of original movies Netflix will release in 2021. The company has more than 70 originals debuting throughout the year, with at least one new movie coming out every week. Sheer volume of content is something that no other service or studio can hope to compete with. But the amount alone won’t keep subscribers close. It has become a quality game.
