According to information from an industry insider, Bethesda was targeting a late 2021 release date for its space RPG Starfield “for a few months.”
A few months ago, Bethesda Softworks was targeting a late 2021 release date for Bethesda Game Studios’ next big project, Starfield. The study originally sleepless Starfield during a presentation at E3 2018, along with the reveal of the equally outstanding The Elder Scrolls VI. Yet for the past two and a half years, details on both projects have been scant at best.
Bethesda’s first original IP in 25 years, Starfield is an RPG set in space whose core concepts are supposedly embedded in the DNA of a typical Bethesda experience. However, the studio’s executive producer, Todd Howard, has also teased that new systems will be introduced in Starfield, game ideas that the development team has not previously explored. There is no sure way to know what this may entail, but longtime fans can rest assured that this project will see the crew return to their roots of focusing on single player experiences.

Yesterday an industry insider who writes under the username NateDrake in ResetEra (via Wccftech) stated that there is “strong hope and desire“Inside Bethesda to launch Starfield this year. “For a few months“The source noted, a launch window of late 2021 served as an internal target. Since COVID and other motivating factors could affect these alleged plans, NateDrake reasoned that a delay is possible before reiterating that “late last year I heard the goal was to release this year. “
A 2021 deployment to Starfield It would certainly help liven up Bethesda and Microsoft’s release list for the year. However, as always, it’s best to take the above claims with a grain of salt. Bethesda hasn’t shared anything substantial about the space RPG in quite some time; therefore, aside from the word of one alleged insider, there is nothing to suggest that there is a 2021 release window on the cards.
Besides the possible expiration date, another great question about Starfield’s the eventual release continues. Will the long-awaited title be released on all PlayStation platforms? This question has been at the forefront of many gaming-related discussions since Microsoft acquired Bethesda’s parent company, ZeniMax Media, last year. However, a firm response is likely not to emerge until the deal is finalized in the coming months. And even then, Microsoft and Bethesda may not want to discuss details until Starfield yes it is ready for prime time.
