In preparation for Black Adam, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is stepping up his training with a grueling routine that includes two workouts a day.

Black adam star Dwayne “The Rock” Johson detailed his intense fitness routine as he prepares to bring DC’s antihero to life.

Johnson’s workout begins with fasted cardio, which has a lot to do with fat burning. For your second workout of the day, you do a resistance workout using a proven push / pull / leg split (“pushing” works the chest, triceps and shoulders, also known as the “pushing” muscles, while “pushing” works the back and biceps, also known as the “pulling” muscles). Johnson also noted that he prefers supersets and giant sets, where you go straight from one exercise to the next with as little rest as possible until you have completed a designated number of lifts within a circuit. Finally, he explained that the lifts he chooses for his routine are designed to target specific muscles from all angles, giving his physique a balanced and complete look.

Johnson, of course, is no stranger to fitness, having played college football for the University of Miami before spending the better part of a decade in professional wrestling, retiring, and then returning sporadically.

Black adam is a derivative of Shazam! which follows the DC villain turned fan-favorite antihero and will feature the debut of the Justice Society of America’s DC Extended Universe. Notable JSA heroes who have recently joined the project include Hawkman, Atom Smasher, and Cyclone.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, Black adam stars Dwayne Johnson, Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge, Quintessa Swindell, Marwan Kenzari, and Sarah Shahi. The film has yet to receive a release date.
