According to the details of the new story of Godzilla vs. Kong, the MonsterVerse has not been destroyed at the end of Godzilla: King of the monsters. Legendary’s fourth (and potentially last?) MonsterVerse installment will finally arrive next month and will feature the showdown audiences have been waiting for. For the first time since 1962 King Kong against Godzilla, two of the biggest monsters in cinema will face off. Both Kong and Godzilla have been established in previous MonsterVerse installments as the franchise has built up to this point, which comes as an enraged Godzilla crosses paths with Kong while searching for his true home.

Godzilla vs. Kong will recover five years after 2019 King of monsters which dramatically altered the landscape of the MonsterVerse. While the previous films focused on a titan (be it Kong or Godzilla), this installment featured a host of creatures, from King Ghidorah to Mothra. King of monsters culminated in a battle between Ghidorah and Godzilla, and in the end, it was Godzilla who emerged triumphant. As a result, the remaining Titans bowed to him and he cemented his place as the supreme predator.

With Godzilla lurking in MonsterVerse, one has to wonder if the world has plunged into chaos. Nevertheless, Collider‘s visit to the set of Godzilla vs. Kong has revealed otherwise, most of the time. While speaking with production designers Tom Hammock and Owen Paterson, it was revealed that the world has not turned into a post-apocalyptic wasteland since the rise of Godzilla. However, it has trampled some cities and Godzilla vs. Kong it’s about getting him to stop that.

The first trailer of Godzilla vs. Kong revealed that Gojira is acting abnormally, to the point of essentially being the most prominent villain in the film. It will be interesting to see how other things have been altered in the years since the previous installment, particularly when it comes to the public’s response to the Titans. Godzilla vs. Kong will promote the MonsterVerse narrative and can potentially open the door for future films. However, if you don’t, at least it will go off with a bang.
