A new work of art from WandaVision fans imagines Monica Rambeau sporting a stunning comedic version of her alter ego Spectrum’s costume.

A new piece of WandaVision fan art imagines Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), aka Spectrum, wearing a comic book costume. As the first Marvel Cinematic Universe live-action series to premiere on Disney +, WandaVision look towards the future. The MCU seems poised to explore the highly publicized Multiverse and incorporate Fox’s newly acquired mutants. X Men franchise, as well as other comic book characters (such as the Fantastic Four). In addition to Evans Peters’ mysterious Quicksilver retaliation, perhaps WandaVision ‘The biggest omen revolves around SWORD’s agent Monica.

In Episode 4, Monica investigates Westview before breaking through his barrier and becoming part of the reality of Wanda’s sitcom. After “Geraldine” is abruptly kicked out of the hex, Darcy Lewis warns Monica about the colossal amount of CMBR she has “rewritten [her] cells at the molecular level twice. In episode 7, he once again travels to the hex. Monica’s energetic reentry apparently involves grappling with her self (and hearing voices) until her eyes turn blue and she breaks through. Once inside, Monica sees the energy emanating from WandaVision‘s Westview and even displays powers while taking on Scarlet Witch. It would seem that Monica’s transformation matches her comic book counterpart, making her much more so than the girl from Captain Marvel.

Famous internet artist BossLogic He recently shared a picture showing Monica as a Spectrum with comical precision. Fully outfitted with blue eyes and a healthy dose of energy, this new fan artwork sees the character donning the costume associated with his superhero alter ego Spectrum. Take a look at the interpretation below:

Spectrum possesses abilities such as absorption / manipulation, flight, and other superhuman characteristics. In the original material, Monica gains her powers after being hit with a large amount of extra-dimensional energy, leading to the cloaks of the new Captain Marvel, Pulsar, Photon, and most recently, Spectrum. While a superhero trajectory seems safe at this point, it’s unclear what name Monica will take as she embraces her new identity. “Photon” is used as indicative of Maria in Captain Marvel, so it seems likely that he will pay tribute to his mother, but “Spectrum” is still a possibility. What’s more interesting is his classification as a mutant in the comics, something that may play a role in the MCU’s implementation of the X-Men.

Marvel Studios has done a shrewd job of adhering to and diverging from comics in the past. Being that the MCU could not refer to the evolutionary phenomenon of Fox X Men universe, comic book mutants like Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are created by Hydra (through experimentation with the Mind Stone). Now, the Hex could be the solution to the study’s mutant problem. It is no exaggeration to imagine the public referring to the victims of this anomaly as “mutants.” If Monica’s powers are triggered by the hex, others within could develop abilities as well (Darcy and presumably thousands of others). While it may not be as comical as the art above, it will be interesting to see Monica develop into WandaVisions final episodes and Captain Marvel 2.
