YouTube has been releasing viral videos since the platform started. Some of the early videos on the site are fun and are still around today.
The feeling of nostalgia is one that never seems to escape the mind of society. A website that can feed this sentiment to the general public is none other than YouTube. In 2005, the video-sharing platform was born and defined what it really means to be a “viral” sensation. Since then, millions of videos have been published that have reached the media on more than one occasion.
The original uploads that shaped the streaming site are the ones that not only changed the global web, but are still as entertaining in 2021 as they were in the late 2000s.
10 Zombie Kid Likes Turtles (2007)
At a whopping 17 seconds long, this feel-good video became the biggest meme of 2007 before memes were created. A video meant to highlight Waterfront Village is now remembered for Jonathan’s reaction to a reporter’s question.
After painting his face like a zombie, they ask Jonathan what he thinks. Instead of commenting on the face painting activities, he quickly responds “I like turtles.” The randomness of his response to the reporter’s immediate reaction to walk away from Jonathan and change the subject is awkward and comical at the same time.
9 The Duck’s Song (2009)
This 3-minute tune about a duck who only wants grapes at a lemonade stand is still fun 12 years after its original release. The three-part saga about the duck and its cravings has spawned multiple parodies and remakes on the internet.
Not only is this song extremely catchy, but its old-fashioned animation style is so silly and childish.
8 Salad fingers (2007)
David Firth’s Salad Fingers video series are the most outrageous, yet entertaining, videos of the late 2000s. From the whiny voice of Salad Fingers to the bizarre plots that occur in each video, Salad Fingers can still make you laugh. to the average YouTube user.

7 Potter Puppet Pals: The Mysterious Tick-tock (2007)

After each puppet is introduced through the song, viewers are too busy following the catchy tune to realize that Snape is only in the room to discover the mysterious ticking. The innocence of the puppets mixed with the unfortunate ending is something that never goes out of style.
6 Charlie the Unicorn Goes to Candy Mountain (2008)
The tale of two unicorns begging their friend, the unicorn Charlie, remains an incredible comedy after it was first posted on YouTube 13 years ago. Between Charlie’s reluctance to go to the mountain, to the official Candy Mountain song that he receives when he arrives on the mountain, it is 3 minutes and 45 seconds that you will want to look again every time you feel depressed.

4 David after the dentist (2009)

From his random thought process to his slurred words, David is still as much fun to watch today as he was in 2009.
3 Peanut Butter Jelly Time (2008)
Before the era of TikTok dance craziness, there was the Peanut Butter Jelly Time dance move. You can’t help but laugh at this 2 minute jam over peanut butter, jelly, and a baseball bat. The song even made it into pop culture, including an episode of Family man. Even viewers who don’t like this song can admit that Peanut Butter Jelly Time and its various dance styles are fun.
two Chocolate Rain (2007)
Tay Zonday’s original song Chocolate Rain went viral on YouTube for Zonday’s deep voice rather than his reflective lyricism at the time. When viewing the video for the first time, one does not expect the bass-bass voice coming out of Zonday in his appearance, which makes the video that much more fun. Not to mention that Zonday’s breathing techniques and serenade style are … different, to say the least.
1 Weird Al Yankovic: stuck in the drive-thru (2010)
Weird Al Yankovic is known for his wild skits and music videos with many of his songs topping the Billboard charts and winning Grammy Awards. In the late 2000s, Weird Al took on the great success of R. Kelly. Trapped in the closet, who was known for Kelly’s wacky music videos (which have 23 parts in all).
Stuck in the drive-thru narrates a couple who cannot decide what they want for dinner.
