Warning! Spoilers ahead for Wolverine # 10 by Benjamin Percy and Adam Kubert
In the latest issue of Marvel Comics’ Glutton, Logan has embarked on a personal mission to rescue a former Weapon X teammate, though one of his forgotten hands may have instigated the start of a war with the United States. Logan’s former associate, Maverick, was being sold at a clandestine auction in Madripoor, and Logan went undercover to try to get him out. However, he was also surprised to see his own severed hand on the auction block. Recent editions of Glutton They have revealed that Maverick was the closest thing Logan had to a friend during his time on Weapon X, as the two ended up working together to resist being completely brainwashed and brainwashed by the show. With the help of Maverick, the pair finally escaped, and began Logan’s journey to become a hero and X-Man. However, the reveal that one of his severed hands somehow came into possession of this auction is quite concerning to Logan, as he has no recollection of when or how it might have been lost. However, he suspects that it was from a previous body before a resurrection on Krakoa.
However, things quickly erupt into chaos when Wolverine’s cover is discovered, leading Logan to help Maverick break free of his mind control by using the shared mnemonic device they created in their Weapon X days in order to escape. However, government agents who appeared to be from the CIA arrived on the scene on the orders of Special Agent Ramirez, who took Wolverine’s hand for her and the newly created branch of the CIA known as the X-Desk. Not only that, but the consequences of his next orders could potentially create a significant conflict between the Krakoa and the United States in the future.
Apparently, X-Desk is a new extension of the CIA and the United States government that specifically focuses on monitoring mutants and the activities of the mutant nation of Krakoa. While X-Desk and Ramirez were portrayed as a potential ally of Krakoa in their first appearance in Marauders # 11 (as well as other X-Men titles), it seems like they have a potentially darker agenda in the works. Ramirez had not only been authorized to bid for Maverick, but she also sent her men to try and stop Logan and Maverick as they tried to escape. Wolverine notes that this is a bold move, especially considering that the US and Krakoa are supposed to be allies.
While Krakoa now knows that the X-Desk is making moves against him, Ramirez shares in a call with his director that it is doubtful that the mutant nation will retaliate, as Logan technically should not have been operating in Madripoor either. Regardless, X Desk managed to get Maverick in his corner later by simply offering him a large sum (unbeknownst to Logan). As a result, it seems likely that tensions between the nations are only going to grow, and a new human / mutant war could be on the cards for the future of Marvel Comics. However, if a war does happen, it’s pretty funny that that means it all started thanks to the CIA really wanting to Of Wolverine severed limb.
