The cast and crew of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier discuss how Blip transformed Helmut Zemo and Bucky’s grudge against the villain.
The Blip will prove to be the catalyst for the return of a more villainous Helmut Zemo when The Falcon and the Winter Soldier debuts later this month on Disney +.
The cast and crew of the upcoming Marvel show spoke with Disney twenty three magazine about everything from Easter Eggs to Blip’s aftermath. And it is the snap of Thanos and the return of the missing that will bring Zemo back to the world of superheroes after his plan in Captain America: Civil War failed to have a lasting impact.
“It is very exciting to bring him back because we have left him in a very dark place. And it is interesting to accompany him on this journey,” said series director Kari Skogland. “The fun thing about working with Daniel and the three of them is that we took a very unexpected journey and discovered things about Baron Zemo that we did not anticipate. As a result, we are satisfied that the character is much more complex than we originally knew.”

Falcon actor Anthony Mackie also chimed in on how the cosmic event will alter Zemos. “After The Blip, the most important thing now is: ‘How do we all fit in?’ Zemo is back and he’s trying to fit in. And Zemo gets really bad really fast, so that’s a problem, “Mackie said.
Sebastian Stan, meanwhile, made it clear that the Winter Soldier hasn’t forgotten what Zemo put him through. Civil war. “Both Bucky and Zemo still have a bone to choose, certainly with each other, but maybe also with the world. So their inclusion was inevitable, in my opinion,” Stan said.
And it won’t just be Zemo and the heroes that will be affected, as showrunner Malcolm Spellman recently spoke about how the Blip will affect everyone in the MCU and reflect our real-world situation with the COVID-19 pandemic. “You can’t hide the fact that four billion people in the MCU disappeared for five years, and then they came back. And our show picks up from there and talks directly about how the world feels to be changing and dealing with a global problem. . “Spellman said. “When the pandemic hits and the whole planet has to come together and deal with it, the synergy is perfect.”
Directed by Kari Skogland, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier stars Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Emily VanCamp, Wyatt Russell, Noah Mills, Carl Lumbly, and Daniel Brühl. The series premieres March 19 on Disney +.
