“What we didn’t realize was the unfamiliar appeal that a service like Disney Plus would have,” Chapek said at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecommunications Conference. “In fact, more than 50% of our global market [subscribers] I don’t have children, and that’s the big difference. “
“When 50% of [subscribers to] Disney Plus has no children, “Chapek continued.” You really now have the opportunity to think much more broadly about the nature of your content. “

Disney + has continually impressed with its growing level of subscribers. While Disney originally projected to reach 90 million users by 2024, the service reached 94.9 million subscribers by the end of 2020, just 13 months after its launch.
Given its success, analysts have been confident of the long-term prospects for Disney +. One report has even predicted that Disney + will surpass Netflix in terms of total subscribers in 2026, with the service forecast to accumulate 294 million subscribers compared to Netflix’s projected base of 286 million subscribers.
Disney + will try to maintain this initial momentum with its upcoming roster of high-profile shows, which includes The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki Y Boba Fett’s book.
