Stargirl: John Wesley Shipp Flash Wears Mask For Pandemic Photoshoot

Before his appearance on Stargirl, John Wesley Shipp has donned his Jay Garrick Flash costume, and a face mask, for a photoshoot.

Before his next appearance on Stargirl, John Wesley Shipp donned his Jay Garrick Flash costume again for a photoshoot, along with a face mask.

Shipp posted a photo of himself in his Golden Age Flash costume, complete with a silver helmet and a face mask adorned with the Flash’s lightning bolt symbol. Shipp’s mask also contains the hashtag #beahero, urging others to mask themselves and follow health protocols in the face of the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

It was recently revealed that Shipp would reprise his role as Garrick “in a pivotal flashback episode” of Star Girl centered on the original Justice Society of America. Shipp played Garrick starting in season 2 of The flash, and even reprized his role as Barry Allen from 1990 Flash television series for the crossover events “Elseworlds” and “Crisis on Infinite Earths”.

In Star Girl, the original Justice Society fell in battle with its rivals, the Injustice Society of America. Garrick was supposed to be a victim of the final battle, and his helmet, along with a portrait of him in his glory days, was shown to reside in the former headquarters of the Justice Society.

Season 1 of Star Girl focused on its titular teenage hero Courtney Whitmore, as she reformed the Justice Society to protect the town of Blue Valley. Season 2 will feature a new pair of villains, including Eclipso and The Shade, and more additions to the new JSA, including Jakeem Thunder, played by Alkoya Brunson.
