The story so far

Arkham horror murder scene investigated

The game takes place in the 1920s and begins with the death of his friend, Professor Tillinghast, an astronomy professor. She is found dead in her mansion in the middle of a strange crime scene, the victim of a heinous murder, but not much more can be determined at first glance. Following the true story of the detective novels, the player must form a team of investigators choosing from 12 characters, some of whom are the most iconic protagonists of the Arkham Horror universe. Each character comes with their own set of skills that they must use to find out more about what happened, all done in the style of the board game that the murder mystery is based on.

From here, the investigation leads the squad to several different Lovecraftian locations outside the mansion, such as Miskatonic University, Arkham Asylum Psychiatric Hospital, and the Danger-Filled Swamp. The squad descends further and further into the mystery that only seems to spread further as they learn through clue gathering and interrogations. It turns out that the answers to the looming mystery cannot be found strictly in this realm. The squad must look beyond their own sanity and will face cults, mind-blowing science, and monsters in their search for the truth.

How to play

Arkham Horror: Mother’s Hug is a narrative role-playing game. To solve this case, the player must find clues, carry out investigations and try to survive the nine chapters of the story.

To do just that, players will be thrust into battle with a wide range of enemies. They can choose between different weapons, both melee and ranged, as well as magic spells to overcome their battles. All fights will take place in turns.

While all this is happening, the investigative team must keep an eye on his sanity. The horrors encountered along the way will put their mental state to the test, and if the player is not careful, they could be thrown into the dark abyss of madness, causing trauma to the characters, affecting the entire investigation.

Developed and published by Asmodee, Arkham Horror: Mother’s Hug launches March 23 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
