Lee Sun-kyun, widely known for his role as the patriarch of the Park family in Parasite, will star in the upcoming Apple TV + series Dr. Brain.

Lee Sun-kyun to star in upcoming Apple TV + show, Dr. brain, based on the popular Korean webtoon of the same name. Sun-kyun is widely known for his recent role as the patriarch of the Park family in Bong Joon-ho’s 2019 black comedy. Parasite, which became the first foreign language film to take home the Oscar for Best Picture. The newest project of the South Korean actor, Dr. brain, will continue to bring South Korean content to international audiences as the first Korean program on Apple TV +.

The series follows a brain scientist obsessed with discovering new types of technologies that allow access to memories and consciousness. After his family dies in a freak accident, he uses his knowledge of the brain to access his wife’s memories in hopes of uncovering the mystery of what happened. Kim Jee-woon (The story of two sisters, I saw the devil) will write, direct, and co-executive produce the series, which is currently in production in South Korea and is expected to launch later this year. Bound Entertainment, launched by Samuel Ha, producer of Bong’s Snow chopper, will produce in conjunction with Studioplex, Dark Circle Pictures and Kakao Entertainment.

Sun-kyun has been officially cast in the upcoming series. Dr. Brain, according to Term. the Parasite actor previously starred in the romantic drama, Willow, the romantic comedy, All about my wifeand the action thriller A difficult day, as well as many auteur films by her regular collaborator, Hong Sang-soo. Sun-kyun is currently the only confirmed cast member of Dr. brain.
