Sony and Amazon’s Silk TV show has landed a showrunner, and producers Lord and Miller are targeting an actor from Chilling Adventures of Sabrina as the lead.
Sony Pictures Television has found a showrunner for its Silk series on Amazon, and the company has its eyes set on a lead actor.
The Illuminerdi reports that the Silk-centered Spider-Man spinoff series planned by Sony and Amazon has brought Sang Kyu Kim on board as showrunner. Kim has produced and written for Altered carbon, The Walking Dead Y 24: Live another day. Kim is currently an Executive Producer Jupiter’s legacy, Netflix’s adaptation of Mark Millar’s superhero comic of the same name. Along with Kim, Chris Miller and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse co-writer Phil Lord will produce.

For the lead role, Sony is sticking to the original material and is looking for a 19-29 year old Korean-American to play the young Cindy Moon. Hailing from Queens, the character describes himself as fond of the ’80s and’ 90s and learns to vent his frustrations fighting crime, perhaps to a reckless degree. She will also reportedly have issues with her mixed heritage and dual identities. While no clue has been found yet, the outlet claims Lord and Miller have met with Chilling Adventures of Sabrina actress Adeline Rudolph.
Last September, it emerged that Sony was creating a set of shows for Amazon Prime Video involving the Marvel characters they own the rights to. Silk it was the only confirmed property, but all programs are said to be interconnected. That news also mentioned the involvement of Lord and Miller, as well as producer Amy Pascal. Korean writer Lauren Moon (Atypical) was said to be writing the series. At one point, Sony was trying to launch a Silk movie, but there is no indication if this series will replace that project or serve as a starting point for it.
Created by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos, Cindy Moon, AKA Silk, debuted in 2014’s The amazing Spider Man # 4. A classmate of Peter Parker in high school, was bitten by the same radioactive spider that gave Peter his spider abilities. While Peter became Spider-Man, Cindy was locked in a bunker by her former mentor, Ezekiel Sims. Eventually, she emerges, takes the name Silk, and becomes a hero. She shares all of Peter’s powers, but can create her own webs with her fingertips.
With Silk and the other potential Amazon shows, Sony is currently working on films for Madame Web and Kraven the Hunter. A sequel to Spider-verse and various spinoffs of the animated hit are also in the works. This year will see the debut of Poison: let there be slaughter Y Morbiusall within Sony Pictures’ growing universe of Marvel characters.
